Abstract: The invention relates to a side brush, which is adapted to be mounted on the body of a sweeping machine, for use as a brush rotatable (W) about a rotatio n axis (V), and which comprises a base element (1) and a plurality of individu al bristle segments (2) detachably mountable thereto, having bristles (2a~) included therein integrated for a solid unit with a frame member (2a~~) joining the same. According to one embodiment, the base element has at least one outer edge and an elongate channel extending inwardly from a respective outer edge. The frame member has a configuration complementary to a configuration of the elongate channel such that interaction between the frame member and the base element adjacent the elongate channel couples the bristle segment to the base element. The plastic paste (2') is being led bent in a ready finished shape, such as through a U-shaped extrusion groove (U) or correspondingly, on top of the melting edge (1's) of the brush preform (1'), that is as an advantageous embodiment being preheated in the same connection. The invention relates to an apparatus, also, that operates according to the method.
