Abstract: A slit mechanism for use in a monochromator which is capable of changing not only the slit width but also the slit height. The slit mechanism is provided with a plurality of pairs of slits formed in a disk rotatable about an axis. The two slits in each pair have the same width and the same height, and each pair of slits have a different width from those of the other pairs of slits. The slit mechanism is further provided with at least one additional pair of slits having the same width as the width of, and a different height from the height of, a predetermined pair of the plurality of pairs of slits. All the pairs of slits are arranged circumferentially of a circle on the disk concentric with the axis of rotation of the disk, so that each pair of slits are positioned diametrically opposite to each other on the circle so as to serve as an entrance and an exit slit, respectively, for the monochromator. The slits may also be arranged on a disk circumferentially of two circles of different diameters concentric with each other and the axis of rotation of the disk, so that one slit in each pair is on one of the two circles while the other slit in the pair is on the other circle diametrically opposite to the one slit.

SOLUTION: Sample drainage after measurement of a measuring part 30 and the overflow of each part 10, 86a, 86b, and 60 are collected in a drain tank 50. Float switches 50b and 50c detect a drainage surface, and a pump 51 rotates and discharges the overflow in a sink 55. When the both float switches 50b and 50a (spare) are defective and water overflows from the upper part of the drain tank 50, a tray 52 and a liquid level sensor 53 which are provided at a lower part detect leakage, a signal is inputted in a control part 40, and the control part 40 closes a water valve 16. An alarm lamp 39c blinks at the same time, a buzzer 39b works, and the user is informed about the unavailability of the electrolytic water and the leakage.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for producing electrolytic water which discharges the electrolytic water to a sink in a nearly neutral state.
SOLUTION: Soft water from a water softener 81 and salt water from a salt water tank 82 are mixed by a mixer 82a and electrolyzed by an electrolytic water producing part 10. Strongly acidic water and strongly alkaline water which are electrolytically produced are stored into an acid water tank 86a and an alkaline water tank 86b, respectively. Pipes are arranged from valves 23 and 24 provided at the intakes of both tanks 86a and 86b to the sink 55 of a sink cabinet, and the same kind of water faucets 57 and 58 are attached to the intakes. Both the water faucets 57 and 58 interlock with the operation of an interlocking lever 59, and simultaneously discharge the same amount of the acidic water and the alkaline water. Both waters are neutralized in the sink 55 and the metal part of the sink 55 is not corroded.

Air bubbles are not sucked in the sampling by the recessed part in the T-shaped hermetically sealed structure, and a vapor/liquid separation is carried out within the tanks in the sampling from the tanks 86a and 86b. Abstract: PURPOSE:To accurately calculate the film thickness and refractive index of a sample even when the refractive index of the sample is unclear by allowing beam having a single waveform to be incident to the sample at two incident angles while changing a wavelength and generating the interference of reflected beams. Measuring operation for calculating the thickness or refractive index of the sample in a form containing the refractive index or thickness of the sample 1 as an unknown from the interference condition in two wavelengths wherein the reflected beams from both front and rear surfaces of the sample are intensified or weakened with each other by interference is performed with respect to two incident angles. The thicknesses or refractive indice of the sample 1 calculated by measuring operation at two incident angles are set equal to each other to calculate the thickness and refractive index of the sample.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To facilitate the adjustment of the optical axis on photodetectors and to improve the accuracy of measurement by condensing the reference luminous flux and sample luminous flux taken out of a switching mirror separately to the detectors and adjusting the optical path length and optical axis direction independently. CONSTITUTION:A plane mirror M3 adjusts the optical path length and optical axis direction of the sample luminous flux S light and the reference luminous flux R light to a photomultiplier D1 to the same length and direction. Switching to the photodetector D2 is executed by advancing the switching mirror M4 onto the optical path to D1. The R light and S light reflected by M4 are intersected in a position C and are then reflected and condensed by concave mirrors M5, M6 so as to be received by D2. The positions of the two luminous fluxes on the optical path length and photodetecting face of the R light and the S light are easily adjustable by adjusting M5 and M6 without affecting the adjustment of M3. The adjustment of the optical axes and optical path difference of the two luminous fluxes on the detectors is thereby facilitated and the accuracy of measurement is improved.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To measure a large-sized sample and a deformed sample which can not be stored in a sample chamber directly by installing a prepositioned optical system in the sample chamber detachably, and reflecting and emitting out one of two pieces of luminous flux and making the other incident on an optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:When the prepositioned optical system P is installed in the sample chamber, luminous flux for a sample which enters the sample chamber SC from a light source part M is reflected by a mirror M2 by 90 deg. to enter an external sample chamber OS, and then travels in the center of the chamber to strike on an integrating sphere IS. Reference lumious flux, on the other hand, is reflected by a mirror M1 by 90 deg., passed through a lens L1, and converted on the light incidence terminal of an optical fiber F through another window of a front panel Q. The optical fiber F runs along the side wall internal surface of the external sample chamber OS and the reference light is incident on the integrating sphere IS almost at right angles to the sample luminous flux. Further, a photodetector D2 is arranged opposite the light guide-out window of the integrating sphere IS and the photodetection unit is fitted slidably on a guide almost at right angles to the sample luminous flux incident on the integrating sphere IS.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To permit measurement with less labor and good accuracy by using an integrating sphere which is not fixed but is made attachable and detachable in an integrating sphere measuring instrument so that various integrating spheres different in shapes and directions can be selectively used. CONSTITUTION:A pin for positioning a bottom surface is fitted into a pin hole provided to the base of a sample chamber of a spectrophotometer by which the base B is positioned and set into the sample chamber of the spectrophotometer. A mounting seat T is made into the shape of a box which is turned up side down. A photoelectron multiplier D is disposed into said seat. The various integrating spheres I are removably and exchangeably attached atop the seat T. The integrating sphere I has a hollow cubic shape and the two corners viewed from above are chamfered in such a manner that the bottom parts remain like a flange. A through-hole (h) is bored to the flange part so that the integrating sphere can be attached through said hole to the home position atop the seat T by screwing. The bottom surface of the integrating sphere is bored with two pin holes (c) for positioning and the integrating sphere is positioned by fitting these holes to the pins (t) on the top surface of the mounting seat.
