Class 2(5) A process for the preparation of light stable polyamides comprises effecting the polymerizetion of the polyamide forming monomers in the presence of a dibasic manganous salt of adipic or sebacic acid, said manganous salt being employed in a quantity, calculated as manganese of between 0À001 and 0À01% by weight of the monomers, and of a chain stabilizer comprising the acetylamide of #-aminocaproic acid or an acid identical to that used in the preparation of the manganous salt, and in the presence of titanium dioxide as delustering agent in an amount of 0À2 to 3% by weight of the monomer. Specified monomers are #-caprolactam, hexamethylene diammonium adipate, metaxylylene diammonium adipate and 11- aminoundecanoic acid. Examples are given.
