Abstract: An electronic apparatus wherein a remote control signal received via a filter is decoded and, upon decision that the control signal is a power cutoff instruction, a controlling microcomputer outputs a filter control signal for actuating the filter to place the apparatus in a reception standby mode while the microcomputer itself is also set in its low power state, hence preventing a malfunction that some noise derived from external light of a fluorescent lamp or the like is recognized erroneously as a remote control signal and that the apparatus is shifted in error from the low power state to its wake-up mode. Consequently, the power consumption can be reduced in the standby mode. The remote control signal is composed of a fixed-width pulse and a succeeding control code, and upon detection of the fixed-width pulse, the controlling microcomputer is released from the low power state to wake up and then halts the operation of the filter.

Abstract: A video source selecting system for a television receiver has a built-in video tape recorder (video deck) for sequentially selecting for display, a plurality of video signals on various channels, such video signals including at least a video signal from the built-in video deck, and a video signal from at least one external video input terminal. A selected video signal is supplied to a monitor television receiver. When the built-in video tape recorder is placed in its playback mode, the plurality of video signals are switched selected sequentially, while when the built-in video tape recorder is not placed in its playback mode, it is skipped by the switch, whereby the order in which the video signals are switched is in response to the operational state of the built-in video tape recorder.

Abstract: In an audio and/or video electronic apparatus, such as, a television receiver or a video tape recorder, which, in a remote control mode, is capable of having operations thereof controllable by respective first remote control codes in response to the reception of corresponding signals from a first remote or separate control transmitter intended for use with such apparatus; there is provided, as an integral component of the electronic appartus, a nonvolatile memory in which, in a programming or learning mode, the first remote control codes are written in association with respective second remote control codes for controlling the same operations and which are generated in response to the reception of corresponding signals from a second remote control transmitter intended for use with a different electronic apparatus. After such programming, in the remote control mode of the apparatus, the reception of a control signal from the second remote control transmitter causes read-out from the nonvolatile memory of the first remote control code which is associated with the second remote control code corresponding to the received control signal for controlling the operation of the electronic apparatus in accordance with the read-out first remote control code.

Abstract: A picture display apparatus has respective modes in which it displays at least three different types of pictures in sequence in response to actuations of a single switch. The picture display apparatus may be incorporated within a conventional television receiver having a programmable timer, and in such case the first type of picture is the normal television picture, the second type of,picture is a display of the current day of the week and current time, and the third type of picture is a display of programming information stored in the programmable timer. When the switch is actuated within a predetermined time from the occurrence of a characteristic event in the respective mode, the next type of picture in the sequence is displayed. When the switch is actuated after the predetermined time has elapsed, the first type of picture in the sequence is displayed.

Abstract: A single, hand held remote control unit produces command signals used to control all operational aspects of a video tape recorder and an associated television receiver, and the video tape recorder and television receiver include switches that upon actuation can provide various interconnections so that all operating modes of the two units are possible. Actuation of the switches is performed by controllers, arranged at the particular units, and which receive the coded command signals from the remote control unit to set the switches in accordance with any of several keys that can be actuated on the remote control unit. In one aspect, depressing a single playback key at the remote control unit will produce coded signals received by the controllers to set the television receiver to an unused channel frequency and cause the video tape recorder to reproduce a prerecorded video tape, with the reproduced signal fed to the television receiver over that unused channel for display.

Abstract: SO1083 CHANNEL SELECTING APPARATUS FOR USE WITH PLURAL TUNING DEVICES Channel selecting apparatus for use with at least first and second tuning devices, each tuning device being responsive to a channel selecting signal supplied thereto for being tuned to a corresponding frequency. At least first and second selectors are provided for producing first and second selector signals, respectively, representing those channels to which the first and second tuning devices are tunable. A set of adjustable elements, common to all of the tuning devices, are settable to produce respective channel selecting signals. At least first and second sampling circuits, associated with the first and second tuning devices, respectively, are responsive to first and second phases, respectively, of a switching signal to sample a channel selecting signal applied thereto. A set of switching circuits is provided, each switching circuit being coupled to a respective one of the adjustable elements to receive a respective first selector signal and a respective second selector signal. Each switching circuit is conditioned by the first phase of the switching signal to enable the channel selecting signal produced by the adjustable element coupled thereto to be applied to the first sampling circuit if a first selector signal is supplied thereto, and each switching circuit is conditioned by the second phase of the switching signal to enable the channel selecting signal produced by the adjustable element coupled thereto to be applied to the second sampling circuit if a second selector signal is supplied thereto. The channel selecting signals sampled by the first and second sampling circuits are applied to the first and second tuning devices, respectively. - i
