It is possible to effectively record image information on the image data recorded in a recording medium regardless of the type of the recording medium. Thumbnail files (600-609) hold thumbnail slots (620-629). Each of the thumbnail slots (620-629) holds a representative image of the corresponding image data as a thumbnail. Text files (700-709) hold text slots (720-729). Each of the text slots (720-729) holds text information on the corresponding image data. An attribute file (509) holds an attribute file header (519) and an attribute slot (529). The thumbnail slots (620-629) and the text files (700-709) are referenced from the attribute slot (529).
Abstract:
Unencoded motion pictures (712) are exchanged in order during process of encoding, insulting in encoded motion pictures (722) having time stamps (DTS725). Each unit picture of the motion pictures is provided, by GPS or the like, with respective positional information indicative of the position where that unit picture was picked up. Each unit picture is associated with the respective positional information by providing them with a respective common time stamp (PTS724, PTS723). In this way, each positional information associated with the respective unit picture is determined during decoding of the encoded multiplexed data (731 to 735). In this way, each unit picture of the encoded motion pictures is associated with its respective positional information, and the trail of the motion pictures can be displayed, based on that positional information, on a map.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more quickly and surely allow a desired image to be searched. SOLUTION: A keyword search part 121 searches for a keyword set to image data, from a recording medium on the basis of a keyword. and an imaged information search part 122 searches for imaged information set to the image data, from the recording medium on the basis of imaged information. A similar information-set image search part 114 searches for similar image data being image data having a high correlation with a found keyword or imaged information, on the basis of the keyword found by the keyword search part 121 or the imaged information found by the imaged information search part 122, and a keyword extraction part 115 extracts a keyword from the similar image data, and a keyword setting part 116 sets the extracted keyword to the image data from which the keyword has been found by the keyword search part 121 or the imaged information search part 122, whereby a desired image can be searched more quickly and surely. When a flag indicating the recorded/unrecorded state of the disk identification information indicates the recorded state, the recording of new disk identification information is inhibited. A contents management table 520 holds the disk identification information and contents attribute information while making them correspond to each other. A menu generation part 150 displays a menu based on the contents management table 520.
