Abstract: PURPOSE:To eliminate a noise, either a white noise and a black noise, at one side mixed in a video signal by generating the peak rectified voltage of either the white noise and the black noise mixed in the video signal at the other side near the image peak of either a white or a black at one side and making the rectified voltage into a threshold level. CONSTITUTION:The title device is equipped with a peak rectification circuit 5 or 7 to output the peak rectified voltage of one side out of the white side and the black side of the video signal under a state in which the peak rectified voltage is level-shifted up to a level near the peak of the other side out of the white side and the black side, and a comparing circuit 4 or 6 to level- compare the peak rectified voltage and the video signal and eliminate the noise at the other side which exceeds the peak rectified voltage. Thus, since the noise of the black (white) side, namely, the opposite side, is eliminated based on the peak rectified voltage of the white (black) side, the threshold level for discriminating the noise is never changed in the same direction as that of the level change of the noise, and the noise is discriminated and eliminated surely.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent erroneous discrimination by extracting sound intermediate frequency signals superposed on synchronous signal section of video detection output by a means that extracts sound intermediate frequency signals of different frequency, and discriminating a sound intermediate frequency signal of maximum level value. CONSTITUTION:Horizontal synchronizing signals in video detection output applied to a synchronizing separator circuit 10 are separated by amplitude separation, and applied to a gate amplifier circuit 9. Only the section of horizontal synchronizing signals in video detection output is passed and thereby, sound intermediate frequency signals 17 are extracted. Thus, as sound intermediate frequency signals included in the section of synchronizing signal in video detection output are extracted, carrier chrominance signals are not included in the section of synchronizing signal. Accordingly, carrier chrominance signals of B and G system cannot be discriminated erroneously as sound intermediate frequency signal of M system.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To prevent noises at muting from being generated by muting also an output of an FM detecting circuit in muting a sound output circuit. CONSTITUTION:An FM modulating signal from a sound intermediate frequency amplifier is inputted to a terminal 1. An output of a limiter amplifier 2 and a signal phase-shifting the output by 90 deg. are supplied to a phase detecting circuit 4. The phase detecting output is applied to a sound volume adjusting circuit 7 through a deemphasis circuit 5. A muting circuit 11 applies muting to the sound volume adjusting circuit 7 by a muting signal 12 and also to the phase detecting circuit 4. Then, the generation of noise at muting is prevented.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source with high convergence efficiency independent of a setting state and provide an image projector using the light source by improving the structure of the light source such as a metal halide lamp. SOLUTION: A light source is constituted of a short arc metal halide lamp 2, a lamp reflector 3 for converging light, a support member 4, and a gravity detecting means 5 for linking and supporting a pair of permanent magnets 11, 12 arranged up and down with a linking means 14. When a weight 13 fixed to the linking means 14 is positioned downward, a pair of permanent magnets 12 on the lower side applies a horizontal transverse magnetic field C to a discharge arc to correct the discharge arc straight. The light source which is uniformly bright even in a reversed state at 180 degrees as in a standing state and an image projector using the light source are realized.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a wide transmission range by arranging a signal transmission lighting means to a rear side of a screen and allowing a light radiating from the lighting means to radiate externally through the screen. CONSTITUTION:The system is provided with a screen 2 of a rear projector 1, a projection tube 4, a radiation lens 6, and a mirror 8. Then a lighting section 100 radiating a voice transmission infrared ray is placed on the rear side of the screen 2 and the light emitting element 16 is arranged to be directed toward the screen 2. The arranged position of the lighting section 100 is preferably located to a location not hindering the optical path of the light radiating from the projection 4, e.g. under the screen 2. In this case, an infrared ray modulated by a voice signal radiates from the light emitting element 16 of the lighting section 100 and since the infrared ray radiates externally through the screen 2, a wide transmission range is attained depending on the light diffusion function of the screen.

Abstract: PURPOSE:To utilize R light more effectively than G light and B light, to compensate a deficiency of R light of a light source using a discharge lamp, and to obtain an image with good color balance by spectrally diffracting and making the R light, G light, and B light incident on a 1st and a 2nd liquid crystal panel, and putting them together again and obtaining a color projection image. CONSTITUTION:In a figure, 5R is a liquid crystal panel where the R light diffracted spectrally by a dichroic mirror 2 is made incident and picture elements are formed by, for example, an active matrix system. The transmissivity of the respective picture elements (liquid crystal cell) is controlled and an R image is obtained by the liquid crystal panel 5R. Further, 5RG is a liquid crystal panel where the G light and B light are made incident and G and B color filters are formed corresponding to the respective picture elements, so that the G light is made incident on G picture elements and the B light is made incident on the B picture elements respectively. Similarly to the liquid crystal panel 5R, a G liquid crystal cell and a B liquid crystal cell are driven by the active matrix system according to a G video signal and a B video signal to output a GB composite image. Then 6 is a dichroic mirror which reflects only the R light, and consequently projection light beams from the liquid crystal panel 5R and 5GB are put together to project a color image on a screen.
