A first layer 31 in the sub-mount 30 has approximately the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the LD bar 10 in copper tungsten (CuW) or the like, and a second layer 32 has approximately the same coefficient of thermal expansion as the heat sink 20 in copper (Cu) or the like. The stress applied to the first adhesive layer 40 and the second adhesive layer 50 is reduced, and the reliability is improved. The first layer 31 and the second layer 32 are formed in an integral structure by a mutual joining by a soldering or a diffusion junction, and the stress by the difference of the coefficients of thermal expansion is absorbed surely on a firm junction interface.
