Abstract:
An integrated electronic system that provides telephone, interactive entertainment and other amenities on a vehicle of transportation. The integrated electronic system includes a passenger control unit (220) coupled through a multiple seat electronic unit via a universal interface. The integrated electronic system further includes a passenger control handset (250) directly coupled to the passenger control unit to provide telephony and display control information to the passenger control unit. The passenger control unit appropriately routes the information to the multiple seat electronics unit through the universal interface.
Abstract:
A matrix switcher which is used in the switcher system of a broadcasting station, connects a plurality of input lines with a plurality of output lines at arbitrary points, and output supplied source video signals from a desired output line. The switcher is specially constituted so that the input corresponding to each output is easily confirmed. On an operation panel (40) of the switcher system which connects the inputs with outputs by arbitrarily switching the inputs and outputs, there are provided cross point buttons (40A) which respectively select a plurality of inputs and a plurality of outputs, a source name display section (40N) on which inputted source names are displayed, delegation buttons (40A) which respectively select the outputs, and an output source name display section (45N) on which selected and outputted source names are displayed. When one of the delegation buttons (45A) selects a prescribed output, one of the cross point buttons (40A) changes the source name displayed on the displaying section (45N) to the source name newly selected by one of the cross point buttons (40A). Therefore, all source names currently selected for each output can be confirmed directly at a look.
Abstract:
The burden of a repeater and the man-hour required to develop a system are reduced. Data meeting the ATM standard supplied to an ATM/1394 repeater (3) from an ATM terminal (1) through an ATM network (2) are converted into data of the IEEE 1394 standard by means of an ASEL (31) and transmitted to a 1394 terminal (4). The data of the IEEE 1394 standard transmitted to the 1394 terminal (4) are converted into data of the ATM standard by means of another ASEL (32).
Abstract:
Before actually performing reproduction, the time from the reference phase position in one cycle of the rotating drum (1) to the time when the head detects a timing signal of each recording area in the tape-like recording medium is measured, an average of the measured times for each recording area is calculated and a reference value is generated based on the maximum and minimum of the calculated averages of the recording areas. During reproduction, the time from the reference phase position to the time when the head detects a timing signal for the tape-like recording medium is measured. Based on the result of comparison between the measured time and the reference value, the relative speed between the travel speed of the tape-like recording medium and the rotating drum rotating speed is controlled. This control enables satisfactory tracking over the entire area of the track even when the relation between the scan locus of the reproducing head and the track geometry is not ideal, thus improving the reliability of the digital data storage using a tracking controller for this tape-like recording medium.
Abstract:
A non-tracking type audio and video data recording and reproducing apparatus and method adapted for use in performing an editing operation wherein data (overlying data) of a unit or group is inserted over previously recorded data (underlying data). During a recording operation, an error correction code(s) is added to the overlying data, the underlying data located in the area wherein the overlying data is to be recorded may be erased, and the overlying data for the tracks other than the first and last tracks thereof is recorded. During reproduction, the reproduced error correction codes and data of the unit of the tracks other than the first and last tracks thereof are utilized to obtain the overlying data of the first and last tracks which are not recorded. Such arrangement may prevent the erroneous reproduction of the underlying and overlying data at the boundaries of the underlying and overlying data.
Abstract:
A recording system (300) that enables single authorized recordings of protected broadcasts to be made. Subsequent unauthorized copies are prohibited by encoding a signal that causes the broadcast to be obscured during playback of the unauthorized copies (220). A broadcast is encoded to indicate that a single copy is authorized (250). If a copy is authorized, a control signal is input to the recording device wherein the signal is conditioned for recording, and prior to placement of the conditioned signal on the recording medium, the copy protect signal is encoded. Thus, if a second copy (which is unauthorized) is made, the copy protect signal will cause the recorded second copy to be obscured making the copy of little value to the unauthorized copier (235).
Abstract:
A focus controller which is used for video cameras, etc., and has image pickup means (1 and 2) that pick up the image of an object through a focus lens and output electric signals corresponding to the object is provided with extracting means (621 and 631) which extract the high-frequency components of the electric signals outputted from the means (1 and 2), evaluation value generating means (62 and 63) which generate evaluation values representing the focused state of the object based on the high-frequency components outputted form the means (621 and 631), a storing means (66) which stores a plurality of evaluation values which change with the movement of the focus lens by correlating the values with the positions of the lens so as to find the just-focus position of the lens, a selecting means which selects a plurality of evaluation values used for finding the just-focus position from the evaluation values stored in the storing means (66), and a control means (4) which finds by calculation the just-focus position based on the evaluation values selected by the selecting means (4) and the positions of the lens corresponding to the selected evaluation values. Thus control of the focus of the focus lens with high accuracy is realized and the just focus is computed at high speed after the focus lens passes the just-focus position (focal position) only one time, even if noise is contained in evaluation values or noise is steadily contained in evaluation value when the luminance is low.
Abstract:
Virtual three-dimensional object video signals V1 are generated by performing three-dimensional image conversion of source video signals, and two-dimensional object video signals V2 for visually representing the three-dimensional image conversion are generated by projecting the signals V1 upon an X-Y plane. Then three-dimensional shadow signals V3 and V5 are generated by projecting the signals V1 subjected to the three-dimensional image conversion upon a shadow plane, and two-dimensional shadow signals V4 and V6 corresponding to the signals V2 are generated by projecting the signals V3 and V5 upon the X-Y plane. Thus, the shadow signals with respect to the object video signals subjected to the three-dimensional image conversion can be generated through arithmetic operation.
Abstract:
A recording and reproducing apparatus comprising a member for determining whether a cassette loaded is a first tape cassette having a tape-like recording medium stored in a cartridge and a nonvolatile memory or a second tape cassette having a tape-like recording medium stored in a cartridge without nonvolatile memory. In the case of the first tape cassette, at least the nonvolatile memory is initialized, while in the case of the second tape cassette, the tape-like recording medium is initialized. The tape in the cartridge includes a plurality of partitions, and their individual history lists are stored in the nonvolatile memory.
Abstract:
An optical disk drive which uses an optical disk as a recording medium is provided with a skew control mechanism which controls the relative inclination between the optical disk and an objective lens so as to selectively record and/or reproduce data on first optical disk having a standard recording density or a second optical disk of a higher recording density. Only when the second disk is loaded and data are recorded on and/or reproduced from the second optical disk, the relative inclination between the objective lens and second disk is controlled by means of the skew control mechanism.
