Headings B8A, B8E and B8J] A pneumatic jack for raising freight containers 40 comprises an inflatable bag 20 supported between a base channel member 11, within which are mounted rollers 15, and a cover channel member 25. The base member 11 and cover member 25 are connected by hinged guides 35 which prevent lateral displacement of the cover member 25. To transfer the container 40 from the platform 43 of one vehicle to the platform 44 of another, two or more jacks are positioned within a recesss in the base of the container and are inflated through a conduit 26, and the container is then moved by a winch 47. In a modification, Figs. 6-8 (not shown), the jack is formed of pivotally connected sections. The jack may be inverted to provide a rollerway on its upper surface.

    Abstract: A railway vehicle roof including a plurality of sections made from molded reinforced fiber glass plastic sheets. The molded plastic sheets include a pair of transversely extending and lengthwise spaced ribs, a pair of spaced X-shaped ribs disposed between the transversely extending ribs, and a plurality of ribs extending between the X-shaped ribs. Upstanding flanges are formed along the transverse edges of the panel. A seam cap fits over adjacent ones of the upstanding flanges.

    Abstract: A coupler positioning device including a movably mounted coupler carrying carriage which maintains an uncoupled coupler slightly spaced from the primary coupler support. An actuating linkage for positioning the carriage to correspond to the angular position of the trucks includes a push-pull cable. A push-pull spring arrangement including a pre-compressed spring serves to transmit the moving force from the cable connected to the truck to a linkage fixed to the carriage.
