    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a foamed molding which exhibits a small dispersion of mechanical characteristics in the vertical, horizontal, and thickness directions and has a high surface hardness and an excellent dimension-restoring power by compounding a thermoplastic resin with a liquid crystalline resin having a specified m.p. and a thermally decomposable blowing agent. SOLUTION: A thermoplastic resin in an amount of 100 pts.wt. is compounded with 0.5-49 pts.wt. liquid crystalline resin comprising structural units represented by formulas I to IV and having an m.p. higher than 270 deg.C, and the resultant composition in an amount of 100 pts.wt. is compounded with 0-30 pts.wt. thermally decomposable blowing agent, thus giving a resin composition for a foamed molding. This resin composition for a foamed molding is foamed and molded so that a foamed molding with an expansion ratio of 2-20 is obtained. In the formulas, R1 is at least one kind of group selected from among groups represented by formulas V, VI, etc.; R2 is at least one kind of group selected from among groups represented by formulas VII, VIII, etc.; and X is H or Cl. Preferably, the sum of structural units represented by formulas I and If accounts for 80-95 mol% of the sum of structural units represented by formulas I to III, and the structural unit represented by formula III accounts for 20-5 mol% of the sum of structural units represented by formulas I to III.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a thermoplastic resin composition which is excellent in heat resistance and impact resistance, and also, exhibits special viscoelastic characteristics when the thermoplastic resin composition is formed into a molded article, fiber or film. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method is used for a thermoplastic resin composition (I) comprising a thermoplastic resin (A) and a resin (B) having a reactive functional group, or for a thermoplastic resin composition (II) comprising a thermoplastic resin (A), a thermoplastic resin (C) being different from the thermoplastic resin (A) and a compound (D) having a reactive functional group. In the manufacturing method for the thermoplastic resin composition, material resins are molten and kneaded under a condition in which a dwell time from the feeding of the material resins into a biaxial extruder to the extrusion thereof is 1 to 30 minutes, and the extrusion amount is 0.01 kg/h per 1 rpm of a screw rotation or more by using a biaxial extruder having a ratio L/D 0 of the screw length L and the screw diameter D 0 of 50 or more.
