    Abstract: PURPOSE:To form a uniform resist film extending over the whole region of a substrate by rotating the substrate, on which a resist solution is dropped, using the center of the substrate as an axis and revolving the center of the substrate. CONSTITUTION:A substrate 3 is rotated, employing a rotation axis 8 as a center, and revolved, using a revolution axis 9 as a center. Consequently, centrifugal force by revolution besides centrifugal force by rotation works to a resist solution on the substrate 3. Since centrifugal force by the revolution operates, changing in the direction of 360 deg. at the period of revolution, omnidirectional centrifugal force works on the resist solution on the substrate 3. Accordingly, the unequal region of a resist film extending in the radial direction resulting from the irregular stepped section of an etching-pattern is removed, thus also improving the mass production of an applicator for a resist.

Then a mass of metallic fiber 22 having very large elastic range, being filled between the ring 20 on the outer surface of an inner shell and a ring 21 on the inner surface of an outer shell, is pressed into dense state. Accordingly, the fluid resistance is increased, and a bypass flow can be shut off. At that time, evenly depressed gap can be obtained, because the effect received by the rings 20 and 21 from the mass of metallic fiber is nearly equal, being supported by the whole surfaces of these rings. On the other hand, when sodium is drained at the regular inspection or the like, the supply of sodium is shut off. Then the fluid force received by the ring 20 is decreased, and the mass of metallic fiber is turned into thin state, so that the fluid resistance is decreased, and sodium can be drained automatically.
