Abstract:
There is presented a method for controlling a plurality of wind turbines comprising measuring wind turbine operation parameters in a model relating a plurality of wind turbine parameters to each other, estimating one wind turbine operation parameter value based on the model and the measured remaining wind turbine operation parameter values, providing a reliability parameter value for each wind turbine based on a difference value, said difference value being a difference between the estimated wind turbine operation parameter value, and the measured wind turbine operation parameter value corresponding to the wind turbine operation parameter for which the estimated wind turbine operation parameter value is provided, and controlling the plurality of wind turbines based on the corresponding plurality of reliability parameter values.
Abstract:
A method and control arrangement are disclosed for controlling power output of a wind power plant (WPP) including a plurality of wind turbine generators (WTGs). The method includes determining that overboosting is required for the WPP to meet a power demand at the WPP, and determining, for at least a first WTG of the plurality of WTGs, a corresponding amount of overboost capacity. The method further includes generating, based on the determined amount of overboost capacity, control signals causing the first WTG to increase its power output through overboosting to thereby fulfill at least a portion of the power demand.

Abstract:
Operating a renewable energy power includes receiving a measurement signal indicative of a measured power characteristic of the plant at a point of connection to a power network; controlling the plant 12) according to a normal mode of operation to provide power by determining and dispatching power set points, the power set points being determined by: acquiring samples of the measurement signal at a sample rate; and determining the power set points based on the sampled measurements and a target level for the measured power characteristic; and monitoring the measurement signal to detect an undersampled oscillation of the measured power characteristic in the sampled measurements, and thereby detecting a control fault; and then controlling the plant according to a fault mode of operation.
Abstract:
The invention relates to wind turbines, particularly to controlling a wind turbine during a communication loss between the wind turbine and the power plant controller. In case of communication loss, the wind turbine enters a fallback operation mode, wherein the wind turbine is ramping the power production of the wind turbine to a predefined fallback set point.
Abstract:
Controlling a current injected to a power grid from a renewable power plant, in response to a voltage event in the power grid At least a current at a point of common coupling between the renewable power plant and the power grid is determined and provided to a power plant controller (PPC). The power PPC derives individual current setpoint corrections for at least some wind turbines, based on the determined current, and dispatches each derived current setpoint correction to wind turbine controllers of the corresponding wind turbines. The wind turbine controllers control a current output of the respective wind turbines, based on measurements of current and/or voltage at a point of connection between the wind turbine and an internal grid of the renewable power plant, and by taking into account the dispatched current setpoint correction .
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for controlling a power plant for providing frequency support to a power grid. The power plant comprises an electrical storage unit and a power generating system comprising one or more power generating units including at least one wind turbine generator. The method comprises setting a frequency control period, wherein the electrical storage unit is scheduled to charge or discharge according to a first power set-point and at the start of the frequency control period, charging or discharging the electrical storage unit according to the power set-point. In case of a frequency deviation, a power change of the power from the electrical storage unit is determined based on the frequency deviation. Frequency support is provided by controlling the electrical storage unit to charge or discharge according to a second power set-point determined from the power change.
Abstract:
A method for controlling a renewable energy farm comprising a plurality of wind turbines and at least one central control unit is disclosed. The wind turbines of the renewable energy farm are connected to a power grid. The central control unit receives a request for change in operation of at least one of the wind turbines, where execution of the change in operation causes a change in power output of the wind turbine. The central control unit checks whether or not the change in power output is in conflict with at least one obligation of the renewable energy farm towards the power grid. In the case that the change in power output is in conflict with at least one obligation of the renewable energy farm towards the power grid, execution of the change in operation is deferred.

A method for operating a renewable energy power plant comprising a plurality of renewable energy generators. The method comprises: identifying a predetermined condition of the renewable energy power plant, of the grid, or of the connection between the renewable energy power plant and the grid, the predetermined condition indicating a weak grid interconnection between the renewable energy power plant and the grid; and controlling each renewable energy generator in an adaptive active power mode in response to recovery of the grid from a voltage deviation. The adaptive active power mode comprises: determining a thermal capacity of a chopper resistor of the renewable energy generator; calculating, based upon the determined thermal capacity, a limit level of rate of change of active power output that may be implemented by the renewable energy generator; and operating the renewable energy generator to output active power at the calculated rate of change limit level.
