Abstract:
Abstract:
An apparatus for dispensing medications comprises: a portable cassette 100 with a body portion (102, fig. 2) including a plurality of compartments (106, fig. 3) and at least one displaceable lid 104; a sensor (108, fig. 5) configured to detect when a lid is displaced; a memory (110) and a first processor (112) configured to store, in the memory, respective times for each detection of displacement of the lid. A method of dispensing medicines using this dispenser is also claimed. Also claimed is an apparatus for dispensing medications, comprising a portable cassette with a body portion and lid as above, as well as a pill-dispenser (202, fig. 7) including: at least one dispensing compartment (204) arranged to store pills; a dispensing element (208) configured to release the pills from the compartment; and a cassette element (210) arranged to receive the portable cassette and displace it so that at least one pill falls into each cassette compartment. After the pills fall into the compartments, the portable cassette is removable from the pill dispenser, and the lid is displaceable to control access to the cassette compartments. Further apparatus and methods are also claimed.

Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a media cutting system, in which a required die cutter is prepared that matches the media throughput rate of an upstream and/or downstream printing and/or finishing operation.SOLUTION: The media cutting system comprises: a die cutter 20 including a cutting surface and a plurality of dies 22 stored proximately to the cutting surface; a die exchange system 23 including a die transport system 26 and a die storage system 24 that is configured to support the plurality of dies 22; and a computer system comprising a controller configured to operate the die transport system 26 and the die cutter 20.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for preparing a coated image and a recording medium with a coated image thereon.SOLUTION: An aqueous overcoat composition for application to a solid ink image containing at least one latex emulsion, at least one polymer wax or wax emulsion, and at least one co-binder is provided.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive system with automatic feed-on and feed-off operations to minimize labor overhead to satisfy needs of small print shops.SOLUTION: A media feeding and cutting system 10 includes: a media cutter 16 including a cutting surface and a digital cutting device; a first feeder 14 configured to automatically transport individual sheets of media from an in-feed receptacle 12 toward the cutter; a positioner configured to position the medium on the cutting surface; a second feeder 18 disposed adjacent to or connected to the cutting surface which is configured to automatically transport the cut medium from the cutter to an out-feed receptacle; and a processor configured to operate the cutter, first feeder, positioner and second feeder.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable production of a high quality document by efficiently transporting a sheet-like medium through a print zone.SOLUTION: A media transport system includes a medium transport in the form of a sled 18 which travels in a reciprocal manner between a media entrance station 20 and a media exit station 22 and through a print zone 14. The transport system further includes a medium transport in the form of a belt transport system 24 which transports a sheet-like medium 12 onto and off of the sled 18. The belt transport system 24 is configured to transport the sheet of media 12 in a direction opposite to the direction in which the sled 18 moves.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that media deformation created by a scoring pen is very small and does not sufficiently weaken or delaminate the media at fold lines so the folds are not crisp and straight.SOLUTION: An apparatus includes a sheet path, an elongated member 106 positioned on a first side of the sheet path, and a support 102 positioned on a second side of the sheet path opposite the elongated member. The support is positioned relative to the elongated member so that a sheet of print media passes along a processing plane between the elongated member and the support when the sheet of the printing media 104 travels in a processing direction along the media path. The processing plane is parallel to flat sides of the sheet of print media as the sheet of print media passes between the elongated member and the support. The support comprises a surface positioned parallel to the processing plane. The surface of the support has a recess 108 having a shape corresponding to the elongated member. The surface of the support rotates in the processing plane.
