Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink for ink-jet printing capable of rapidly penetrating in application to an ordinary paper, having slight bleeding between colors. SOLUTION: This ink composition comprises water, an anionic dye, a penetrating agent containing one quaternary ammonium cation and rapidly penetrates when applied to an ordinary paper. The penetrating agent containing one quaternary ammonium cation is shown by the formula (R1 is a benzyl group or a >=3C alkyl group; R2, R3 and R4 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an ethyl group and two or more R groups may be bonded to form a ring; X is an anion and (n) is an integer showing the valance of the anion). An ink combination for polychrome printing comprises (a) the above first ink and (b) a second ink containing water, a pigment and has slight bleeding between the first and the second inks. The ink-jet printing method is carried out by using the ink combination.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink composition having excellent water resistance, smear resistance, light resistance and storage stability and suitable for ink jet printing by compounding water, a dye and a cation amideamine copolymer. SOLUTION: This ink composition comprises (A) water preferably in an amount of 90-99 wt.% (based on the composition), (B) a dye such as an anionic dye preferably in an amount of 1-5 wt.%, and (C) a cation amideamine copolymer such as a compound of formula I X is Cl, Br, I, HSO4 , BF4 (or the like; (n) is 3-10; A is a group of formula II; B is a group of formula III [(p) is 1-4] or the like} preferably in an amount of 0.1-20 wt.%.
