Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a musfcal tone processor capable of easily imparting delicate timbre changes to inputted musical tone signals. SOLUTION: The coeffts. made discrete by matching the frequency spectra of the vowels 'a', 'i', 'u', 'e', 'o' pronounced by a man with the channel number (21 channels) of a band-pass filter are stored. One or a plurality thereof are read out according to the operating angle of a joystick. When the joystick is operated on a circumference or axis, the coeffts. of the two vowels across the operating position thereof are read out and the fresh coeffts. are calculated by an internal division method. When the joystick is operated to 1 to 4 quadrants, the coeffts. of the three vowels constituting the vertex of the sectorial shape of these quadrants are read out and the fresh coeffts. are calculated according to the distances from the operation positions of the respective vertexes. The calculated coeffts. are set at a DSP which is a filter, by which the processing of the frequency characteristics of the inputted musical tone signals to the frequency characteristics of the intermediate tones of the vowels described above is made possible and the timbres of the musical tones are made analogous with the human voices. If the operating element is operated gradually, the calculated coeffts. (frequency characteristics) change continuously and, therefore, the timbres of the intermediate tones of the delicately changing vowels are obtd.
