Abstract:
Snow skis having asymmetrical edges to make turning easier while telemark or alpine skiing. Each ski has concave, curved lateral edges. These lateral edges are asymmetrical, in that the medial edge of each ski is substantially longer than its outer edge. In addition, the point of maximum side cut on the outer edge is adjacent to the toe area of the skiers boot, while the point of maximum side cut on the medial edge is adjacent to the middle of the ski boot to facilitate easier turns while telemark skiing.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to releasable binding systems that utilize at least one torsion member for inducing a releasable binding force upon a releasable member. One embodiment of the present invention relates to a releasable ski system incorporating at least one torsion member, a base, and a releasable member. The at least one torsion member is fixably coupled to the base and releasably coupled to the releasable member. The releasable ski system may be incorporated within any system to provide a lightweight and compact releasable system. A second embodiment of the present invention relates to a multi mode releasable ski binding system. The system is configured to switch between at least two modes including a fixed mode and a free mode. The fixed mode corresponds to a position in which the base is fixed with respect to the mounting plate and the free mode corresponds to a position in which the base is free to rotate or pivot with respect to the mounting plate. In addition, an optional or alternative spring biased free mode corresponds to a position in which the base is free to pivot against a spring with respect to the mounting plate. A third embodiment of the present invention relates to a releasable ski toe binding system in which a ski boot is releasably coupled directly to the base to further minimize the components necessary for providing an effective releasable ski system.
Abstract:
Multifunctional Telemark boot (1) suitable for permitting a bending action in correspondence with an articulation of the metatarsus phalange of the foot, the boot (1) being provided with a containing hull (2) for the foot, and with a flexible articulation (7) which is arranged substantially in correspondence with a point (4) of the hull (2) in order to permit the bending action; a control device (10) of the bending action being associated with the hull (2) and being arranged in correspondence with the said flexible articulation (7) in order to control a bending action of the hull (2) itself.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A ski binding consisting of a front toe section (1) for fixed mounting on the ski (4), and for secure retention of the front part of the ski boot (6), and a rear section (3) for fixed mounting on the ski (4), characterized in that the binding comprises a pivotal rigid plate (20) connected to the front toe section (1) by a movable joint with the aid of a flexible hinge (18), an adjustable heel attachement block (21) having a rear fastener (22) to secure the ski boot (6) to the pivotal plate (20), a rear section (3) fixedly mounted on the ski and having grooves (27) formed therein adapted to the posterior portion of the pivotal plate (20), and means (25) for locking the posterior edge of the plate (20) securely to the ski, and a support bar (26) capable of rotating upward into position below the plate (20).
Abstract:
A step-in binding for a telemark ski has a safety release mechanism. The binding comprises a mounting plate, a housing (20), a clamp lever (22) and a step-in lever (24). Step-in securing is initiated by applying pressure to a step-in lever, which in turn causes the clamp lever (22) to rotate downwardly to hold a ski boot in place. A latching mechanism comprising a tooth (50) and a catching post (25) locks the clamp lever (22) in an engaged position to securely hold the ski boot. A safety release mechanism is activated by rotating the housing assembly about a pivot post (21) for disengaging the tooth (50) from the catching post (25), thereby permitting the key (26, 140) to be lowered for opening the toe clamp to release the ski boot. The binding is automatically reset for receiving the ski boot after the safety release mechanism is activated. The binding may include a cable.
Abstract:
A binding for a touring ski, a Telemark ski or a cross-country ski having “step in” automatic locking. The binding includes a front retaining element to cooperate with the front sole of a boot, a rear retaining element to cooperate with the rear part of the front sole and/or the rear sole of the boot, a tensioning element to tension the boot on the binding and to enable the heel to be freely lifted, a tensioning link placed under and connected to a rear retaining stirrup, and a fixed or retraction stop to cooperate with the tensioning link so as to enable the rear retaining stirrup to move back, tensioning the tensioning element, when the heel of the boot exerts a downwardly directed pressure on the rear retaining boot situated in an idle position.
Abstract:
Cross-country or telemark binding (10) which is mounted on the top face of a ski, especially on a mounting plate (12) mounted thereon, so as to be longitudinally displaceable (arrow 13) and which is lockable in a plurality of sliding positions by means of a locking device (14). The locking device is subdivided into a first locking unit (23), which is active only in the forward direction, and a second locking unit (24), which is active only in the rearward direction, so that on unlocking of that locking unit (23) which is active only in the forward direction the binding is displaceable only in the forward direction (arrow 25) and on unlocking of that locking unit (24) which is active only in the rearward direction the binding is displaceable only in the rearward direction (arrow 26).
