Abstract:
A tool (4) for rotation ring type barking machines (1) comprises a swinging arm (9) which is connected at one end via a screw connection with a holder (11) on a shaft (10) rotatably mounted in the rotor (3) of the machine. The holder has two elongated grooves (16,16') spaced apart by an intermediate ridge (17) and adapted to accommodate two spaced-apart beads (19,19') formed on the swinging arm. The two outer lateral faces (20,20') defining the grooves are sloping in cross-section and converge toward one another at an angle slightly less than a corresponding angle of convergence between the outer lateral faces (21,21') defining said beads. Also the inner lateral faces (22,22') of said beads and said ridge are sloping, and upon tightening of the screw connection at issue the beads are urged into the two grooves, the difference between said angles of convergence being gradually reduced toward zero until the inner bead faces come into contact with the lateral faces of the ridge, at which point the screw has been tightened with sufficient tensioning force.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an apparatus for debarking logs or preparing logs for separately performed debarking - especially logs (1) that are difficult to debark - the apparatus comprising a number of blades (11), the blades being arranged to cut or tear the bark of the logs (1) to be treated transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the logs, in order to facilitate the peeling of the bark, and especially its peeling as pieces of suitable size during the said preparation or the subsequent actual debarking treatment. The apparatus comprises a drum (3) rotated about its central axis (2), through which drum the logs (1) to be treated are fed, and inside the surface limited by the cylindrical inner sleeve (4) of which drum (3) is arranged to project a number of blades (11). The blades are arranged to cut or tear the surface of the logs (1) to be treated by the effect of the mutual movement of the drum (3) and the logs (1). On the inner sleeve (4) of the drum (3) is provided a through hole (20) for each blade (11), which means that the blades are arranged to be replaced on the outside of the drum (3).
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method and an apparatus for drum debarking of wood, the bark being removed from the wood in a debarking drum being rotatable alternatively in the opposite directions and having different debarking properties in the alternative directions of rotation thereof. According to the invention, the wood and the loosened bark along with it are guided to a bark separation dependent on the direction of rotation of the debarking drum.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a barking machine which comprises a frame (1), barking rotor (2), which is rotably mounted on the frame (1) and which barking rotor comprises a rotor frame (3), barking blades (4) mounted on the rotor frame (3), and a first power unit (5) mounted on the rotor frame (3) that is connected to the barking blades (T) for trnsferring the barking force into them. According to the invention in the barking rotor there is arranged an adjustment device (6) movable with respect to the rotor frame, and a second power unit (7) which is mounted on the frame (3) for transmitting the barking force via the first power unit (5) to the barking blades (4). This solution enables one to adjust the barking depth of the barking blades without stopping the barking rotor.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for renovating an inner drum shell surface (4) of a barking drum (1), said barking drum comprising a cylindrical drum, rotatable around its substantially horizontally disposed centre axis (2), through which tree trunks (3) to be barked are delivered for barking the tree trunk and separating the bark from wood material and which barking drum (1) includes a number of log lifters (5) extending inwards from the inner drum shell surface (4) and a number of elongated bark slots (6) extending through the inner drum shell surface (4) of the barking drum. The inner drum shell surface (4) of the barking drum (1) is coated intermittently with an annular section at a time. A new inner surface for the barking drum (1) is compiled from two or more annular sections, and each annular section is produced by welding a number of form-moulded plates (8, 9, 10, 11) of substantially equal mutual size and shape securely to the inner drum shell surface (4) of the barking drum (1) and to each other.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a device in a barking unit, which comprises a barking drum which is placed on two bogies, positioned at a distance from each other, each bogie comprising a travelling wheel and a driving wheel, positioned at a distance from each other along the periphery of the barking drum, and being arranged in a fundament. According to the invention the device is characterized by the combination of the following features: the bogie (3, 4) is resiliently arranged in the fundament (9) by means of elastic elements (11-13); the elastic elements (11-13) comprise three cushions, positioned beside and at a distance from each other, the intermediate cushion (12) being more rigid than the two outer cushions (11, 13); the elastic elements (11-13) are intended to cooperate with a plate arrangement (21), which is arranged between the bogie (3, 4) and the fundament (9).
