Abstract: Methods for applying a liner-free, or liner-less label, to a substrate, particularly glass or plastic (e.g., polyethylene terephthalate) substrates, are described herein. The method includes applying an adhesive composition, such as a polymeric coating, to a label face sheet, activating the adhesive composition with an activating fluid, and contacting the label to the substrate. The activating fluid is preferably a mixture of water and one or more organic solvents, such as low molecular weight alcohols.

Abstract: The present invention is a wallboard tape that simplifies the initial covering and installation of elongated wallboard joints formed by the abutting of adjacent wallboards. The wallboard tape includes a fibrous paper tape having a resin-impregnated body and a water-soluble, specially formulated water-activated adhesive layer applied to a surface of the body. The resin impregnated body remains relatively non-moisture absorbent during wetting of the adhesive layer thereby allowing the adhesive layer to dry several minutes after installation of the tape over a wall joint.

Abstract: A joint tape to be applied to wallboard is provided and includes a base substrate having opposing sides. In certain embodiments, a first adhesive layer is applied to one of the sides of the base substrate and a second adhesive layer is applied to the first adhesive layer, where the first adhesive layer is different than the second adhesive layer. In certain other embodiments, two different adhesives are used in a single adhesive layer. In use, the joint tape is positioned over and removably secured to a joint or corner between adjacent wallboard panels using the first adhesive layer. After the joint tape is in position, joint compound is applied to the joint tape, and the water in the joint tape activates it to form a secure bond with the wallboard panels.

Abstract: Triazabutadiene molecules that provide adhesive functionality, e.g., triazabutadiene molecules as underwater adhesives or water-reactive adhesives. The triazabutadiene molecules mask an aryl diazonium ion, a highly reactive chemical functionality. Once unmasked, e.g., in water, the diazonium species is adapted to react with an electron rich aryl ring that can undergo diazonium chemistry (e.g., phenol species, resorcinol species, etc.). Triazabutadienes can be used as additives in adhesive systems such as but not limited to epoxy adhesive systems.

Abstract: A protective textile sleeve for providing protection to an elongate member contained therein; a method of construction thereof, and a method of bonding at least a portion of the sleeve to at least one of itself and an elongate member extending through a cavity thereof is provided. Abstract: A fluid activatable adhesive for a liner-free label and methods of using are described. Preferably, the adhesive composition includes a polymer, such as an emulsion polymer formed from monomers selected from the group consisting of butyl acrylate, 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, methyl acrylate, 2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid (AMPS), a salt of AMPS, such as its sodium salt, styrene, and combinations thereof. The adhesive composition adheres to the liner-free label to the surface of a substrate that is at room temperature, at room temperature and wet, cold, or cold and wet. In preferred embodiments, the substrate is glass or plastic, such as polyethylene terephthalate.
