Abstract:
A heat-dissipating grease composition which comprises 100 parts by weight of an organopolysiloxane and 100 to 900 parts by weight of an inorganic powder having high thermal conductivity and dispersed in the organopolysiloxane. The organopolysiloxane consists essentially of (1) 100 parts by weight of an organopolysiloxane having a viscosity of 50 to 500,000 centistokes at 25.degree. C. and (2) 1 to 300 parts by weight of an organopolysiloxane which consists essentially of R.sup.1.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 units and SiO.sub.2 units, wherein each R.sup.1 is a group selected from an alkyl group, an alkenyl group and an aryl group. The molar ratio between the R.sup.1.sub.3 SiO.sub.1/2 units and the SiO.sub.2 units is in the range of 0.5:1 to 2:1.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thrust sliding bearing constituted of a synthetic resin capable of maintaining low friction properties for a long time, capable of preventing a stick-slip phenomenon in sliding, and capable of preventing abnormal friction sound caused by the stick-slip phenomenon. SOLUTION: A thrust sliding bearing 1 constituted of a synthetic resin includes a silicone grease interposed at the sliding interface between the upper side of a lower annular plate part 202 which defines the bottom of a lower annular recess 204 and the lower side of a thrust bearing piece 300 which is in sliding contact with the upper side and the lower side of an upper annular plate part 102, and at the sliding interface between the lower side of the upper part and the upper side of the thrust bearing piece. The silicone grease comprises: a base oil which is a silicone oil and has a dynamic viscosity at 25 DEG C of 100-500,000 cSt; and a thickener which has been added thereto so that the mixture has a consistency of 200-400. Silicone grease compositions are prepared by blending a thickening agent with a liquified crosslinked organosiloxane gel produced using a platinum-catalyzed hydrosilylation reaction. The gel is liquified by application of a shearing force to the crosslinked gel. The shearing force can be applied prior to and/or during blending of the gel with the thickener.

Organosilicone pastes and greases including at least one oily diorganopolysiloxane polymer with a dynamic viscosity at 25 DEG C of at least 500 mPa.s, and at least one alkali-metal or alkaline-earth metal carbonate, but no actual thixotropic agent, wherein said carbonate has a particle size of at most 0.5 mu m and a high BET specific surface area of more than 5 m /g, and is present in an amount of at least 20 wt % based on the total composition. The preparation method is carried out at a low temperature, e.g. 5-40 DEG C.

The invention provides composites of organic polymeric compositions including a matrix of an organic polymer and a filler distributed throughout the matrix, the filler being present in the matrix substantially as separate particles, each about the fundamental particle size of the filler. The fillers are unique mixed metal hydroxide compositions that are obtainable in sub-micron size particles. These particles are layered and have a BET specific surface area in excess of about 100 m /g. An anion of the particulates is selected to be compatible with the organic polymer thereby providing ease of dispersion of the filler particles throughout the polymer matrix.

A bicycle chain lubricant that may be applied as a coating on a bicycle chain is a crystalline solid at ambient temperatures, yet when the chain is in motion the forces around internal components locally transforms the coating to a lubricous fluid. This increases chain efficiency in the drive train and reduces ware by limiting water and dirt access to chain internal components.

In a synthetic resin-made thrust sliding bearing, a silicone grease whose base oil is a silicone oil, whose coefficient of kinematic viscosity at 25° C. is not less than 100 cSt and not more than 500,000 cSt, and which contains a thickener so as to set its worked penetration to not less than 200 and not more than 400 is interposed at sliding interfaces between, on the one hand, an upper surface of a lower annular flat plate-shaped portion defining a bottom surface of a lower annular recess and a lower surface of an upper annular flat plate-shaped portion and, on the other hand, an upper surface and a lower surface of a thrust bearing piece which are respectively brought into sliding contact with the upper and the lower surface.

A grease composition comprising a grease containing, in a base oil thereof, from 2 to 40% by weight, based on the total composition, of tricalcium phosphate [Ca.sub.3 (PO.sub.4).sub.2 ], the grease further containing (A) from 0.5 to 10% by weight, based on the total composition, of a molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate sulfide and (B) from 0.1 to 5% by weight, based on the total composition, of at least one of a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate and triphenyl phosphorothionate. The grease composition is excellent in mechanical stability, heat resistance, extreme pressure properties, and wear resistance.
