Abstract:
A synthesized message storage and retrieval generates response messages by concatentating a sequence of words that have been recorded in digital memory in the voice of the operator in accordance with prescribed inflection characteristics. By linking together phrases or words having selectively chosen inflections in the voice of the operator, the resulting vocalized message will more naturally simulate the manner of speech of the operator and thereby provide a more realistic verbalization of the message to the customer. In accordance with the communications functionality of the operator's voice message assembly mechanism, the system performs a plurality of tasks for the operator, including automatically answering all incoming calls with a prerecorded phrase dependent on the type of call being serviced and, by means of an auxiliary audio interface with the call director, the output message can be delivered to the customer whether or not the operator is connected to the call. In addition, rather than audibly vocalizing the message out to the calling subscriber, when retrieved from memory the contents of the message are transmitted in digital format, so that they may be captured and visually indicated to the customer via a digital display provided in the calling subscriber' s telephone equipment.
Abstract:
A service server apparatus is provided which can easily cope with a correction of an error of a task performed based on the content of verbal speeches of a speaker. The service server apparatus includes a service activating unit that receives an instruction for performing a different task from a task performed by an application relating to a speech communication, a telephone/call control enabler that records verbal speeches of the speaker during a speech communication between a plurality of speech communication terminal device, a speech recognizing enabler which performs a task based on the recorded speeches and which generates task data including text data representing the result of the performance and speech data representing the result of the performance, a text translating enabler, and a speech synthesizing enabler.
Abstract:
A computer implemented method of delivering a message is disclosed. The method includes generating a call activation interface on a software platform. The call activation interface is associated with at least one discrete item from a plurality of discrete items on the software platform. The method further includes presenting a list of a plurality of contacts in response to a selection of the call activation interface, receiving at least one contact from the list, and generating a call setup request directed to the at least one contact. The call setup request includes an announcement message that includes information associated with the discrete item.
Abstract:
A wearable display interface that during operation is in short-range, wireless bidirectional communication with a server, related methods, and systems including the interface and server. The wearable interface includes a power supply driving a processor that is operatively coupled to a visual display and a wireless interface where the wearable display interface further includes an attachment interface for linking the display interface to a user's body, such as wrist or neck, or apparel. The server is preferably a mobile telephone where the display interface is a client. In addition, the interface can further function as a speaker and/or microphone to received and/or accept verbalized data, such as input instructions or communication commands. Intentional distribution of processing across the server and client ensures that the interface maintains a small and efficient form factor.
Abstract:
A call recording system includes a processing module operable in a call recording mode for storing compressed call data in a data storage device. The processing module is further operable in a selected one of a near data access mode, where call data retrieval is conducted under the control of a telephone handset connected to the system, a remote data access mode, where call data retrieval is conducted under the control of a remote terminal connected to the system via a telephone network, and a computer network access mode, where call data retrieval is conducted through a computer network connection with the system.
Abstract:
A fully digital voice response system is disclosed. The system comprises a digital processor and a circuit for coupling the digital processor to a digital computer and a digital telephone network, the coupling circuit being a fully digital communications path. The system receives digital data from an instrument coupled to the digital telephone network, translates the received data into a digital computer query and transmits the query to the digital computer via the digital telephone network. The processor also receives digital data from the digital computer, translates the digital data into digital data representing a voice, facsimile or data for a digital computer and transmits the data via digital telephone lines to the instrument. In this manner, the system receives a command from a person and responds to the command with data retrieved from the digital computer, the system presenting the data to the person in voice or facsimile form or in a form suitable for reception by another digital computer. Because the system operates entirely with data in digital form, it is free from the slowness, inefficiency, error and infidelity inherent in fully analog or hybrid analog/digital systems.

Abstract:
A networked multimedia system (10) comprises a plurality of networks (40) and at least one storage server (100). A signal path interconnects the workstations (12) and the storage server (100). Each workstation (40) includes video and audio reproduction capabilities, as well as video and audio capture capabilities. Any given storage server (100) comprises a set of storage cells (120) that operate under the direction of a storage cell manager (160). A storage cell (120) may include one or more encoding (132) and transcoding converters configured to convert or transform audio and video signals originating at a workstation into a form suitable for storage. A storage cell (120) may further include one or more decoding converters (134) configured to convert stored signals into a form suitable for audio and video signal reproduction at a workstation. Each storage cell (120) additionally includes at least one storage device (150) and storage device controller (152) capable of storing, for later retrieval, signals generated by one or more converters. The storage cell controller responds to signals received from the workstations (40), and oversees the operation of the storage cells to facilitate the storage of converted audio and video signals in at least one file that can be simultaneously accessed by one or more application programs executing on one or more workstions
