Abstract: An image forming apparatus including a plurality of processing units capable of performing different support processing for a user asking for support, and a remote support apparatus operated by an operator are connected via a communication path. The remote support apparatus transmits to the image forming apparatus a request to perform the support using the selected processing unit, or a request to switch the processing unit to a selected specific processing unit and a request to perform the support. The image forming apparatus allows the processing unit which follows the request to perform the support, to perform the support, and switches the processing unit according to the request to switch the processing unit to allow the switched processing unit to perform the support. Further, the image forming apparatus returns a result which should be returned, among results of the performed support, to the remote support apparatus.

Abstract: Systems and methods for suppressing print verification of a printed page. One embodiment is an apparatus that includes a print verification system that performs a verification process that analyzes printed pages of a printer for print errors. The print verification system receives a rasterized page from the printer and analyzes a predetermined location of the rasterized page for a bypass symbol. The print verification system also bypasses the verification process for a printed page that corresponds with the rasterized page responsive to detecting the bypass symbol in the predetermined location.

Abstract: The present application discloses methods and systems for calibrating a scanning system. The scanning system comprises a light-transmissive platen defining a top surface and a bottom surface, a controller, a document handler, and a scanner bar for recording image data from documents at various document heights. In one embodiment, the calibration method proposes the use of two calibration strips in a document scanning system that has both platen scanning and Constant Velocity Transport (CVT) scanning modes. In another embodiment, a scanner is disclosed with a dual calibration target or a single calibration target that is manufactured with two (2) different heights to correct the illumination profile at the CVT scanning height or at the platen scanning height.

Abstract: A method, non-transitory computer readable medium and apparatus for analyzing operational sensor data of a device collected by a mobile endpoint device operating with the device are disclosed. For example, the method includes receiving the operational sensor data, a time stamp, a location of the device and a device identification (ID) from the mobile endpoint device, wherein the operational sensor data is collected by the mobile endpoint device from the device when the mobile endpoint device initiates a communication session with the device and transmitting the operational sensor data to a management service, wherein the operational sensor data is analyzed to determine a cause of a failure of the device when the device fails.

Abstract: A method comprising using at least one hardware processor for: applying an edge detection algorithm to an image of a document to receive a map of edges from which multiple optional contours of the document in the image are identified; splitting the multiple optional contours into line segments; sorting the line segments into equivalence classes of collinearity representing distinct line segments of the line segments, wherein each one of the classes of collinearity represents a distinct line segment of the distinct line segments; deriving a connectivity graph based on the equivalence classes of collinearity; identifying four vertex polygons in said connectivity graph; evaluating each one of the identified four vertex polygons according to one or more segmentation criterions; and segmenting the document in the image according to the most highly evaluated four vertex polygon of the four vertex polygons.
