Abstract:
An interface card (10) for use with a personal communicator is provided as well as a method of use therefor. An electronic camera (12) is used to capture a plurality of image data. The image data is transferred to the personal communicator by an interface circuit (14).
Abstract:
An electrostatic information recording medium (3) composed of an electrostatic information recording medium electrode (13) and a charge holding layer (11) put thereon, wherein the layer (11) is formed from a fluororesin composed of repeating ring structure units of general formulae (1) and/or (2) and having such a molecular weight as to give an intrinsic viscosity of at least 0.1 at 50 °C, wherein n is 1 or 2. The above constitution serves to hold persistently the information charges stored in the charge holding layer. Because the information storage means is an electrostatic charge unit, the information stored in this recording medium has a high quality and a high resolution, the information processing is simple, a long-term storage is possible, and the stored information can be reproduced arbitrarily and repeatedly with an image quality meeting the purpose of use.
Abstract:
A method of calibrating an incoherent optical fibre bundle to be used for image transmission, by determining the relative input to output position of each fibre in the bundle and processing the light output of the bundle accordingly. The calibration technique comprises, defining an address array capable of defining for the optical bundle the position of the ends of individual optical fibres in the bundle; transmitting a series of test images into one end of the optical fibre bundle, each test image illuminating a substantial proportion of the pixels and the combination of which selectively illuminate each pixel of the address array; analysing the output of the fibre bundle with reference to the transmitted images to produce a reference table of input to output for the fibres; and using the reference table to deconvolve an image transmitted along the fibre bundle. Calibrated incoherent optical fibres are of particular use for examining nuclear reactors, chemical vats and other harsh environments.

Abstract:
In an image forming method of receiving encrypted data generated by an information processing apparatus, decrypting the encrypted data into data to be printed, and causing an image forming apparatus to execute printing processing, print data is acquired by decrypting the received encrypted data, and the acquired print data is converted into image data for which the printing processing can be performed. The image data is encrypted with first key information.
Abstract:
A film video player apparatus for sensing a film frame image to produce a standard video signal includes an optical device (248) for selectively changing the magnification of the film image with respect to the video display (zoom), a device (252) for displacing the film image horizontally and vertically with respect to the video display (scan), and a control system (202) for coordinating zoom and scan so that the video display is always filled with the film image.
Abstract:
A method for transmission of a sequence of high quality images for display on a visual display unit is described. It has particular application in the field of telepathology, where magnified images obtained by scanning a medical specimen on the stage of an optical microscope are transmitted from a local pathologist to a remote consultant for diagnosis. The method consists of the steps of advancing the field of view of the camera in discrete steps across the object being viewed to capture a sequence of contiguous images, temporarily storing a digital representation of a first of the images in a first buffer store and a digital representation of at least part of the next succeeding image in a second buffer store, controlling the data in the two buffer stores such that the data follows the leading edge of the advancing viewport and data in the first store representing a trailing incremental strip of the first stored image is progressively discarded while data in the second store representing a trailing incremental strip of the next contiguous image is transferred to a location in the first store occupied by the data representing leading incremental strip of the first stored image, and reading out the contents of the first buffer store to the display unit.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a reader comprising a projection device for projecting of light emitted from a radiation source (117) to a section of a marked surface (20) and an optical unit (4) for receiving and visualising the reflected light on an image sensor (114) which transforms the reflected light into a sequence of electronic signals. The reader also has a motion detector (2) for generating synchronisation signals during movement parallel to the marked surface, and also a signal processing unit which converts the signals of the image sensor into information packets containing independently of the character code the alphanumerical, graphic or pictorial information of a freely selectable part of the marked surface, and stores said signals in a memory unit from which they can be retrieved.
Abstract:
A film video player for sensing color film to produce a color vodeo signal includes a single frame charge coupled device (CCD) image sensor (246) having a pattern of color filter elements (1202, 1204, 1206). The single frame CCD image sensor is flash illuminated with an image of the color film during the vertical retrace intervals of a standard video signal. The flash illuminated single frame CCD image sensor enables high resolution to be achieved with a single chip image sensor. To reduce readout clock frequencies, the single frame image sensor is provided with a pair of parallel output registers (301, 303).
