Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader capable of displaying preview images suited to the kind of a transmission original without performing prescanning again even in the case that a user sets an erroneous kind of the transmission original and obtains the preview images. SOLUTION: At the time of setting a film original to a scanner 1 and reading the preview image, the preview image is read by the same read method without changing the read method for a positive film and a negative film, and an image processing at the time of displaying the preview image is changed in accordance with the kind (positive film or negative film) of the film selected by the user. Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for creating digital documents from hardcopy documents by means of a reproduction system comprising display means and scanning means, wherein the method comprises the steps of detecting an event of an intended scanning of a hardcopy document, upon detection of the event opening an image adjustment screen at the display means, said screen comprising an image area, a scan settings area and a process button, displaying at the image area of the image adjustment screen a digital image, displaying at the scan settings area of the image adjustment screen image parameter values, activating the image parameter values by activating the process button, closing the image adjustment screen at the display means, and scanning the hardcopy document according to the image parameter values corresponding with the displayed digital image resulting in a digital document, wherein the method comprise the further step of selecting the digital image to be displayed to be either equal to a digital image which has been previously stored due to scanning a previous hardcopy document, when predetermined visual presentation criteria are met, or equal to a predetermined other digital image. The invention also relates to a reproduction system configured to apply the method.
Abstract:
A scanning system including a scanning module mounted in a body, such that the scanning module scans in a capture zone to capture an archival image of said capture zone as well as one or more non-archival images. One or more image capture modules mounted in the body in fixed relation to the capture zone being operative to capture a stream of the non-archival images in the capture zone.
Abstract:
A scanning device (10) for forming a scanned electronic image (54) includes an imaging sensor (22) and at least one navigation sensor (24 and 26). The imaging sensor is a linear array of sensor elements, with a two-dimensional navigation sensor array at each end. The scanning device has three degrees of freedom, since position information from the navigation sensors allows manipulation of an image signal from the imaging sensor to reduce distortion artifacts caused by curvilinear scanning. Acceptable sources of the position information include printed matter and contrast variations dictated by variations in the inherent structure-related properties (64) of the medium (14) on which the scanned image is formed. Illumination for optimal operation of the navigation system may be introduced at a grazing angle (30) in some applications or in the normal to a plane of the original in other applications.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of reconstructing an image from scanned parts of an original image obtained by relative movement between a scanning device and the original image so that adjacent scanned image swaths overlap. The scanning device comprises navigation means for determining the position of the scanning device relative to the original image. Navigation corrections are calculated by correlating features within the area of overlap between adjacent swaths.
