Abstract:
The image scanning apparatus capable of reading an image by scanning a carriage equipped with a light source, mirrors and the like in a sub-scanning direction of an original document O, is provided, and in this apparatus, the stepping motor is used to drive the carriage, and an open loop control and switching of the exciter are carried out. With this structure, the scanning speed of the carriage can be increased to be higher than the set speed once, and then reduced to the set speed, thus making it possible to shorten the time for the carriage to move from the home position to the top of the document to be scanned, while suppressing the load on the CPU.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To substantially decrease the frequency of movement of a scanner carriage and to shorten the scanning time, and then to improve the reliability of a system by making frictional wear less as a result of the reduction of the movement of the scanner carriage. SOLUTION: A method for scanning an object includes a step (59) for moving a 1st scanning line relatively to the object in a top to bottom scan direction, a step (61) for indexing a plurality of cross linear samplings forward in successive order, a step (65) for moving a 2nd scanning line relatively to the object in a bottom to top scan direction, and a step (67) for indexing a plurality of the cross linear samplings reversely in successive order. Abstract:
A data generating apparatus and a data generating method generate imposition data for imposing a plurality of pages on a print medium. A recording medium stores therein a program which enables a computer to function as an apparatus for generating such imposition data. After imposition data have been converted from grid data into fold data, trials are performed to fold a hypothetical print medium based on the converted fold data, so that pages, which are superimposed by folding the hypothetical print medium, have sequential page numbers and are oriented in one direction. Results of the trials are acquired as fold information for folding an actual print medium.
Abstract:
An image scanning apparatus includes: a reflective document lamp that emits light to the surface of a reflective document; a carriage that has the reflective document lamp and an image sensor for detecting light and converting the detected light into an electric signal mounted thereon and reciprocates in a sub-scanning direction; an indicator lamp that emits light and indicates the state of the apparatus; a determining unit that determines whether the reflective document lamp is turned on by using the image sensor; and a control unit that controls the on or off state of the reflective document lamp, the on or off state of the indicator lamp, and the movement of the carriage. In the image scanning apparatus, when the determining unit determines that the reflective document lamp is not turned on, the control unit moves the carriage to a predetermined position such that the indicator lamp emits light to the reflective document lamp.
Abstract:
A scanning apparatus includes a stage glass on which a document is loaded, a scanning head which reciprocates between a home position of the stage glass and a finish position opposite to the home position to read the document and generate image data, a position detection part disposed in or on the stage glass along a moving direction of the scanning head, a head position sensing part disposed in the scanning head which senses the position detection part to sense the position of the scanning head when a scanning signal is inputted, and a controlling part to control the scanning head so that the scanning head moves to the home position at a faster speed than a predetermined reference speed if the scanning head is distanced farther from the home position than a predetermined distance. Thus, the scanning apparatus, a driving method therefor and an image forming apparatus having the same control a speed with which a scanning head moves to a home position according to the position of the scanning head.
Abstract:
A method for scanning successive images including the steps of scanning a first image bearing media employing a top to bottom scan direction and scanning a second image bearing media employing a bottom to top scan direction.
Abstract:
A system for determining the return of the photo sensor in the scanner and the method thereof are disclosed. There are two base position sensing units in the system. Each of the base position sensing units computes the currents in two sections of a line resistance material defined by the position of the photo sensor after a document is scanned to determine which base position sensing unit the photo sensor should return to. This method reduces the return time of the photo sensor than the prior art in which the photo sensor can only return to a single end. Therefore, the system helps achieving the goals of increasing the scanning efficiency and saving power. Moreover, the system realizes the image scanning in both directions.
Abstract:
In a transmission device with switchable gear ratios, a driving gear is disposed onto an output shaft of a motor, a rocker arm is pivoted on the output shaft through an electromagnetic clutch, a rocker arm gear mounted on the rocker arm is driven by the driving gear, a first gear set is driven by the rocker arm gear when the rocker arm is at a first position, a second gear set is driven by the rocker arm gear when the rocker arm is at a second position, and the first gear set and the second gear set have different output rotating speeds. In addition, a first magnetic element attracts the rocker arm at the first position, and a second magnetic element attracts the rocker arm at the second position. Thus, the gear ratio may be switched according to interactions between the electromagnetic clutch and the magnetic elements.
Abstract:
In accordance with the present invention, a method and a system for promoting scanning speed are provided. The method comprises steps of determining a transmission rate of a transit interface, adjusting system clock responsive to the transmission rate of the transit interface to change a data generated rate, and scanning an original to generate data at the rate controlled by the system clock. The key aspect of the present invention is by adjusting system clock to change the data generated rate corresponding to the transmission rate of the transit interface. Therefore, in response to the transmission rate of the transit interface, the system clock is adjusted to produce the data at a rate that can reduce the possibility of memory buffer full leading to the reduction in the time wasting on start-stop processes and therefore promote the scanning speed without requiring the increase in size of a memory buffer.
