Abstract:
A communication device includes a number of transmitter/receiver/modem blocks installed in vertical positions. Each of the transmitter/receiver/modem blocks includes a supporting board having a front surface and a back surface, the supporting board including a plurality of fins on the front surface and a plurality of forced air-cooling fans on the supporting board. A front cover encloses the front surface of the supporting board, the front cover and the fins forming a plurality of ducts, the front cover and the front surface forming an internal opening under the fins. A back cover encloses the back surface of the supporting board. First heat-radiating circuit modules are provided at positions adjacent to the fins on the front surface. A second heat-radiating circuit module is provided within the opening. When the forced air-cooling fans operate, the fans produce a flow of air along the plurality of ducts to cool the first heat-radiating circuit modules, and the fans producing a flow of air within the opening to cool the second heat-radiating circuit board.
Abstract:
A local multipoint distribution service base station apparatus for sending and receiving communication signals to and from subscribers includes a base unit having at least one rack which is adapted to receive at least one subrack. At least one communication signal generating unit is also arranged and configured to be received by the subrack. In addition, a transmitting/receiving unit is operationally connected to the base unit for transmitting and/or receiving the communication signals to and from the subscribers.
Abstract:
A water meter transmission system reads data from a water meter and wirelessly transmits data to a central billing or receiving system. Disclosed transmission systems are fully integrated and contained within pit housings such that electronic components are well protected. A spiral antenna is integrated into a specially configured integrated antenna cover which fits into the top cover of a pit housing. The antenna cover and/or upper lip area of the upper lip of the main housing may comprise a distal barrier and a medial barrier used to exclude water and contaminates. Disclosed transmission systems offer high output and low power consumption and vitiate the need for meter readers to physically access a water meter or other meters.
Abstract:
A mounting system and method for an antenna and access point of a wireless local area network communication system. The antenna and access point are mounted on top of a board member, and a protective cover is mounted on board member over the antenna. The board member can then be placed on a support surface such as the top of a suspended ceiling and the access point connected to the input cabling of the local area network communication system. The board member can then freely moved around to fine-tune the area of coverage of the access point.

Abstract:
The present invention refers to housing electronic equipment in an enclosure (1) comprising at least a roof element, two side wall elements (2-7) and two end wall elements (8, 9). At least one of the side wall elements (2-7) comprise a locking device (15) for fastening the side wall element (2-7) to an end wall element (8, 9). The present invention also refers to a method for providing an enclosure for electronic equipment in a space inside an existing building and to a housing for enclosing electronic equipment. The modular structure may be used to house a radio or mobile telephone system base station as well as other electronic equipment.
Abstract:
A communication system is adapted to accommodate changes to bandwidth demand through the use of communiucation interface modules, such as radio modules (121-124), are coupled to a communication signal processor, such as a multi-port modem (110), in order to serve an initial bandwidth demand. Thereafter, additional communication signal processors may be added, being coupled to one or more of the communication interface modules (121-124) decoupled from the initially deployed communication signal processor (110), to serve an increased bandwidth demand. Preferably, an expansion chassis architecture is used to accomodatea number of communication signal processors atleast equivalent to the number of communication information interfaces of the plurality. In preferred embodiments, the communication interface modules operate upon different channels, such as radio frequency channels, although coupling to the communication signal processor upon a same channel, sucha as a common intermediate frequency channel.
