Abstract: The invention related to a catalyst for performing a reverse-water-gas-shift (RWGS) reaction comprising: a porous support; and an alkali carbonate dispersed on the porous support. The alkali carbonate as part of the catalyst is in a form of M2CO3, where M+ = Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, and/or Cs+. The catalyst is substantially free of elements in groups 5 through 12 of the periodic table, wherein group 5 is a column of the periodic table beginning with V and group 12 is a column of the periodic table beginning with Zn. The porous support comprises at least one of titania (TiO2), alumina (AhO3), zirconia (ZrO2), or a carbon material. The catalyst is not poisoned by sulfur-containing impurities. The alkali carbonate is substantially amorphous.

Abstract: A process for preparing C2 to C3 hydrocarbons may include introducing a feed stream including hydrogen gas and a carbon-containing gas comprising carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and mixtures thereof into a reaction zone of a reactor, and converting the feed stream into a product stream comprising C2 to C3 hydrocarbons in the reaction zone in the presence of a hybrid catalyst. The hybrid catalyst may include a metal oxide catalyst component and a microporous catalyst component comprising 8-MR pore openings less than or equal to 5.1 A and a cage defining ring size less than or equal to 7.45 A, where a C2/C3 carbon molar ratio of the product stream is greater than or equal to 0.7.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are methods, systems, and compositions for providing catalysts for tail gas clean up in sulfur recovery operations. Aspects of the disclosure involve obtaining catalyst that was used in a first process, which is not a tailgas treating process and then using the so- obtained catalyst in a tailgas treating process. For example, the catalyst may originally be a hydroprocessing catalyst. A beneficial aspect of the disclosed methods and systems is that the re-use of spent hydroprocessing catalyst reduces hazardous waste generation by operators from spent catalyst disposal. Ultimately, this helps reduce the environmental impact of the catalyst life cycle. The disclosed methods and systems also provide an economically attractive source of high-performance catalyst for tailgas treatment, which benefits the spent catalyst generator, the catalyst provider, and the catalyst consumer.
