Abstract:

Abstract:
An apparatus capable of simultaneously coating one side of each of several surface type fastener tapes (F) or the like traveling longitudinally in coplanar, parallel spaced relation to one another. For simultaneously coating two fastener tapes (F) a pair of end coating units (34) and one intermediate coating unit (34ʹ) are arranged alternately with the fastener tapes (F). Each fastener tape (F) travels with its opposite longitudinal edge portions slidably engaged in recessed guideways (52, 52ʹ) defined in the end and intermediate coating units (34, 34ʹ). A coating material (C) is supplied through passageways (42, 42ʹ) in the coating units (34, 34ʹ) onto the surfaces of the fastener tapes (F) traveling therethrough. Mounted to the coating units (34, 34ʹ) so as to extend across the fastener tapes (F), a doctor blade (36) has its scraping edge (66) held against the surfaces of the tapes (F). The fastener tape guideways (52, 52ʹ) in the coating units (34, 34ʹ) all decline from their upstream toward downstream ends with respect to the traveling direction of the tapes (F), so that the coating material (C) collects in spaces bounded by the tapes (F), coating units (34, 34ʹ) and doctor blade (36). The doctor blade (36) creates a coating (Cʹ) of constant thickness on each fastener tape (F) as the latter travels therepast.

Abstract:
A coating head (10) for use in strip-coating paper-card material (20) with water-based, thixotropic magnetic recording ink, in order to produce disposable magnetic recording media which is intended for one write operation, followed by only a few read operations. The head sits on the card and contains a quantity of ink at ambient pressure and temperature. As the head and card move relative one another, the ink is subjected to a shear force, and a bottom surface layer of the ink is drawn into a trailing wall (50) of the head (10), which wall contains a metering orifice. This orifice is of gradually increasing cross-section. That is, the orifice's entrance area is smaller than is its exit area. In this manner, the ink is subjected to a coating interface through which the ink experiences a reduction in hydrodynamic pressure, and a decrease in velocity, as the volume of the coating orifice increases. As a result, the viscosity of the ink increases as the ink progresses through the coating orifice.
Abstract:
Apparatus for coating a strip article with a coating of uniform thickness. The apparatus includes a rigid coating head defining an elongated open-sided slot and having an extended surface immediately adjacent to the open side of the slot. In use, the extended surface is arranged at an angle to the surface to be coated to form a converging coating gap. The apparatus further includes a strip feeder for continuously longitudinally advancing the strip article successively past the slot and the extended surface of the head in a direction transverse to the slot; a supply apparatus for supplying liquid coating material under pressure to the slot; and a rigidly mounted load application device for pushing the coating head towards a major surface of the strip article facing the slot while permitting free movement of the coating head in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the strip article. In one form of the apparatus, the coating head is rigidly connected to the load application device with the load application device providing the entire support for the coating head against movement of the coating head in a direction other than a direction perpendicular to the surface of the strip. In another embodiment, a support is provided for the load application device that is movable between an operational position, in which the coating head carried by the piston and cylinder device(s) is positioned at an operational distance from the strip article, and a retracted position, in which the coating head is separated from the strip article by a distance greater than the operational distance for maintenance, repair or the insertion of a new strip article.
Abstract:
A device for coating frame-shaped spacers (10) with bent corners (11, 12, 13, 14) in the area of their bent corners has a level conveyor (1, 2, 3), and a pair of nozzles arranged on both sides of the level conveyor, whose openings (9) lie closely above the level conveyor (2). The spacer (10) is transported between the nozzle openings with a low branch (15) lying on the level conveyor. In order to achieve a curved coating of a corner area corresponding to the curved shape of the corner (9), at least one section (1, 2) of the level conveyor can be moved up and down while the nozzles remain stationary, and preferably can also be moved horizontally back and forth, preferably by being mounted on eccentric shafts (21, 22).
Abstract:
The object of the invention is a solid glued board press, in particular a blockboard press, which includes a glue handling device, two or more glue nozzle (8), a glue distribution device, wood strip transportation devices to move a wood strip past the nozzles (8), and a press section. A press in accordance with the invention includes at least two glue nozzles (8) which are located in essentially the gluing level that corresponds to the surface of the wood strip (9), in such a way that when the glue nozzles (8) are turned round an axis that is vertical to the gluing surface the width of gluing can be varied, and that the glue nozzles (8) include shut-off devices (7), which are arranged in such a way that when the wood strip (9) presses the shut-off device (7) it opens the glue nozzle (8), when the glue flows onto the surface of the wood strip (9). The operation of a gluing head is improved by means of the invention.
Abstract:
In order to meter material (201) being applied to, for instance, a pattern board (140) a material supply (112) is connected to a nozzle (111) through a soft hose segment (203). This is supported by base or cradle (210) performing a movement forwards and backwards around a bearing (211). In this movement forwards and backwards the hose (203) will be engaged with an inlet cutting off body (221) and an outlet cutting off body (224) and a press head (230). This latter parts are protruding portions being mounted in a house (220). By giving these protruding portions suitable sizes in relation to the swinging movement of the cradle (210) inlet valve function and outlet valve function as well as a pressing out effect by means of the press head (230) are obtained. Furthermore, on the same time the movements of the nozzle (111) upwards and downwards are obtained.
