    Abstract: The energy collector which utilises an off-access portion of a paraboloid of revolution (18) may be used to focus electromagnetic radiation and/or solar energy. A main reflector (18) is mounted on a support frame (10) pivotally connected by elevation bearing (11)to a support stand (15). An azimuth support (12)is rotatable about an azimuth bearing (14) and the support frame (10) is mounted on the azimuth frame (12) by legs (33, 34) which have a single point of connection (28, 29) to the support frame (10) and spaced points of connection (26, 27) to the azimuth frame (12). The connections (26, 27) are moveable towards or away from one another to vary the elevation of the support frame (10).

    Abstract: The present invention provides a full view external mirror for vehicle. The mirror surface is formed by evenly combining a plurality of the cambers having different radius of curvature into a composite surface. The surface of the mirror is characterized by which the curvature radius in the middle and upper of the mid-column section of said mirror surface are large and decreasing from up to down; the distribution of curvature radius are firstly decreasing and then increasing from said middle and upper of mid-column to outside; the outline of the mirror is designed to a shape having narrow-upper and wide-lower with streamline; and there is provided a reference point for the driver on said mirror surface.     Abstract: A generally rectangular tensioned cover comprises a pair of end forms having end portions. They are generally parallel along their lengths. A pair of side rails which are generally orthogonal to the end forms have first and second end portions. They are spaced substantially the lateral separation of the end forms with the end portions of each side rail positioned adjacent the end portions of an end form.     Abstract: A lighting apparatus has a reflecting mirror R positioned at the rear of a light source L. The three-dimensional shape of the reflecting mirror R is designed by a computer such that the reflecting mirror R reflects light in a special mode. By virtue of the special three-dimensional shape of the reflecting mirror, an infinite number of light rays from the light source L are reflected by the reflecting mirror in such a manner that the light rays reflected at particular portions of the reflecting mirror intersect the light rays reflected at other innumerable different portions of the reflecting mirror at innumerable different points. The reflecting mirror is further designed in such a three-dimensional shape that the light reflected by the reflecting mirror is given a predetermined luminous flux distribution. Designing of such special paths of reflected light rays makes it possible to obtain various uses of the lighting apparatus.

    Abstract: A grazing angle objective (10) uses a convex paraboloidal mirror (15) and a concave ellipsoidal mirror (20). Both mirrors have a common axis of rotation (25) passing through the focus (30) of the paraboloid and through both foci (30, 35) of the ellipsoid. The paraboloid focus and the first focus of the ellipsoid are substantially coincident while the second focus of the ellipsoid defines the nominal sample locaction. A parallel beam (80) of radiation travelling along a direction parallel to the axis encounters the paraboloid, and is reflected as if diverging from the paraboloid focus. Since this virtual image location is also at the firt focus of the ellipsoid, the beam is imaged at the second focus. The focused beam encounters a sample located in a plane (40) passing through the second focus and perpendicular to the axis. The reflected radiation diverging from the sample encounters a different portion of the concave mirror and is reflected toward the axis, whereupon it encounters and is reflected along the axis by a different portion of the convex mirror as a collimated beam (95) travelling away from the sample.
