Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved golf club head that allows for customization and provides adequate face wear resistance. SOLUTION: The golf club head has a body member and a face insert formed of different materials. The body material is relatively soft and ductile to allow the club to be customized, and the face insert member is relatively hard and wear resistant to ensure that the face groove geometry remains substantially unaltered through use. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf ball for achieving excellent compression characteristics, hitting feeling and spin performance. SOLUTION: The golf ball includes an inner core which has a first outer surface and a geometric center and is formed from a substantially homogenous formulation such that the inner core has a hardness of 35 Shore C to 85 Shore C. An outer core layer is formed around the inner core, has a second outer surface and an inner surface, and is formed from a substantially homogenous formulation such that the outer core layer has a hardness of 55 Shore C to 90 Shore C. A cover layer is disposed about the outer core layer. The hardness of the first outer surface is greater than the hardness of the geometric center to define a "positive hardness gradient", and the hardness of the second outer surface is substantially the same as or lower than the hardness of the inner surface to define a "negative hardness gradient". PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club head with an improved striking surface. SOLUTION: In this golf club head, a groove 12 is machined into a strike surface with tight tolerances. The groove has the sharp edge, a round end and a draft angle between about 2° to 12°. The striking surface is machined to have a more uniform texture with a roughness of more than 40 Ra. A plurality of grooves may contain a plurality of round portions or tilted portion 121, a portion 122 having substantially parallel walls 122, a portion 123 having a V-shape, and a curved portion 124. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polyurethane-based and polyurea-based compositions, containing modified amine hardening agent for use in a golf ball layer. SOLUTION: This golf ball includes a core and a cover, wherein at least a part of the golf ball is made of composition containing polyurea prepolymer and a hardening agent, and the hardening agent contains at least one kind of primary amine coupling and at least one kind of secondary amino coupling. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a golf club head, with increased playability and forgiveness. SOLUTION: The hollow golf club head 1, provided with a concave portion 20, comprises a metallic portion and a light-weight portion of plastic or the like. The concave portion allows the club designer to make a club head having very thin portions, while still maintaining the requisite structural integrity. A convex bulge 22 is provided to house weight inserts for increasing playability. The metallic portion of the club head has an appearance of a frame for housing several light-weight inserts. These light-weight inserts may be housed in a crown 13, a skirt 14, and a sole 12. The club head may be formed by co-molding, eliminating the need for welding or adhesives, freeing mass to be used in more beneficial ways. The club head may be large so as to increase playability and forgiveness. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high moment of inertia golf balls comprising a low specific gravity core layer formed from a moisture resistant composition. SOLUTION: The moisture resistant composition has a moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) of 12.5 g.mil/100 in 2 /day or less and has a highly neutralized acid polymer. The specific gravity of a cover layer and an intermediate layer is adjusted, and the golf ball has a moment of inertia of 85 g.cm 2 or greater. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide golf balls capable of preventing deterioration of characteristics and performance caused by absorbing moisture. SOLUTION: At least one layer of the golf ball is manufactured using a moisture resistant composition. The moisture resistant composition comprises a highly neutralized acid polymer having a moisture vapor transmission rate of 12.5 g-mil/100 in 2 /day or lower. The moisture resistant composition is used for any one or more layers of a core layer, a cover layer, or an intermediate layer of a one piece, two piece, multilayer or thread-wound golf ball.
