Abstract: A multi-utility pillow designed to be used as a normal pillow or a modified pillow that can be used by individuals wearing dental headgear or who need to apply a hot/cold pack to an injury site. The pillow Includes two removable foam inserts. The inserts fit into diagonally aligned slots formed on opposite sides of the pillow. The upper and lower edges of each slot are curved thereby holding an insert snuggly therein. In the preferred embodiment, the pillow is made of elastic material, so that its biasing property allows the slots and their curved edges help hold a complimentary shaped insert therein. The slots are diagonally aligned so that they may accommodate headgear worn by a person sleeping on his or her right or left side. The pillow includes an optional, complimentary shape outer cover for greater protection and comfort. Included with the pillow is an optional hot/cold pack designed to fit closed into one of the slots. The top and bottom bladders are filled with a suitable refrigerant and designed to fit into the wide oval shaped portions of each slot.

Abstract: A thermally regulatable, pulsating cushioning device having a deformable outer membrane being adapted to sealably receive a liquid material therein; a foam core being encased within and in intimate contact with, but not bonded to the flexible, deformable outer membrane wherein the foam core has a dimension substantially coincident with the outer membrane; a liquid material, sealably contained within the flexible, deformable outer membrane and saturating the foam core, with the liquid material being at least partially circulatable throughout the foam core, wherein the cooperation of the saturated foam core and the sealable flexible membrane provide a uniform, thermally regulatable medium and structural support such that the pulsating cushioning device is readily, uniformly deformable when a load is applied thereto; a means for directly pulsating the liquid within the flexible, deformable outer membrane, causing the device to undulate or vibrate; and a thermal regulator cooperating with the liquid material to either heat or cool the liquid material.

Abstract: An air temperature distribution around a human body is such that an air temperature is higher than a natural air temperature in the vicinity of a body surface and gradually decreases in inverse proportion to a distance from the body surface to approach an ambient air temperature, because the air in the vicinity of the human body surface is heated by a body temperature. A temperature gradient near the body surface can be increased by ventilating the ambient air with a temperature lower than a body temperature to a portion in the vicinity of the body surface to force an air temperature very close to the body surface down to the natural ambient temperature. The larger a temperature gradient, the more active a heat flow. Air ventilating passages are provided in a quilt, a futon, a pillow or clothes, which are worn or used while sleeping to ventilate through these air passages an ambient air lower in temperature than the body. This provides an increased temperature gradient near the body surface and, as a result, a higher radiation effect. Even in hot summer, the ambient temperature lower than the body temperature gives us a cool feeling.

Abstract: Systems, devices, and methods are provided for an automated sleep assistant. An automated sleep assistant may comprise an audio input device for capturing sounds and utterances made by a user while sleeping. Audio data may be collected and analyzed to identify sleep patterns indicative of an adverse sleep-related condition such as Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). A pillow comprising a plurality of regions with one or more sensors, one or more inflatable air bladders, and one or more haptic feedback devices may be utilized. A base unit device physically connected to the pillow may determine one or more external forces that mitigate the adverse sleep-related condition and cause the pillow to apply the one or more external forces to the user, for example, by using a pump to inflate an air bladder to help the user's head lift or tip to a specific angle that opens his or her airway.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel cooling pillow device. The device is an improved, temperature-regulated pillow that employs the use of cold water and/or ice to keep the user cool and comfortable throughout the night. The device resembles a standard pillow with insulated chambers to accommodate ice and/or water. Specifically, the device comprises an insulated tubular chamber that resembles a peace sign design with an opening at the top, creating four interior sections. The opening is seamless, located at one end of the pillow device and is used for the insertion or removal of ice and/or water. The bedding product has a gel layer having an outside surface, a bonding surface opposite the outside surface, and a perimeter.
