Abstract:
Traditional Intelligent network services in a PSTN use service logic and data that is accessible for use only by the PSTN, though provision may be made for users to change certain controlled parameters of the services. The present system has the service logic and data placed on a server accessible over the Internet. This permits anyone to access useful telephone data such as time-of-day routing or diversion number information of a user. Thus a calling party can determine before placing a call over the PSTN the best number to call by accessing the phone page of the intended called party. This phone page would remain accessible to the PSTN for service provision. In a preferred embodiment, the service logic and data is maintained by the user independently of the PSTN on a server of the user's choice; in this case, the PSTN would also access the user's server logic and data over the Internet.

A method for conversational computing includes executing code embodying a conversational virtual machine, registering a plurality of input/output resources with a conversational kernel, providing an interface between a plurality of active applications and the conversational kernel processing input/output data, receiving input queries and input events of a multi-modal dialog across a plurality of user interface modalities of the plurality of active applications, generating output messages and output events of the multi-modal dialog in connection with the plurality of active applications, managing, by the conversational kernel, a context stack associated with the plurality of active applications and the multi-modal dialog to transform the input queries into application calls for the plurality of active applications and convert the output messages into speech, wherein the context stack accumulates a context of each of the plurality of active applications.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for formatting an electronic message from mobile communication equipment. SOLUTION: An electronic messaging system may be used that is operable to send and receive electronic messages and to redirect electronic messages to and from the mobile communication equipment associated with an electronic messaging account in the electronic messaging system. When receiving an electronic message for redirection from the mobile communication equipment, the electronic messaging system may be operable to identify a message format for the electronic message, reformat the electronic message using the identified message format, and redirect the formatted message for delivery The identified message format may be used for electronic messages sent from the mobile communication equipment, or the like. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a voice recognition and response system capable of easily and promptly creating voice data based on text data from a maintenance terminal. SOLUTION: The voice recognition and response system is provided with a voice storage and response device 10 which creates and transmits the voice data based on a voice request of a host device 30 on receiving the text data from the maintenance terminal 20 and each piece of main control data. The voice storage and response device 10 includes a voice storage means 11, a text storage means 12, a text reading means 13 and a voice output control means 14. The voice storage means 11 stores the voice data from the text reading means 13 or the maintenance terminal 20. The text storage means 12 stores the text data from the maintenance terminal 20.
