    Abstract: The invention discloses a method for producing a packaging material and a packaging material suitable for packaging of food and/or liquid. In the method of the invention a first barrier layer, and an optional second barrier layer, is applied on a first side of a paperboard web. The thereby formed barrier coated web is at least partly dried in a first drying step, whereupon an extruded layer is applied onto the partly dried barrier coated web in a second coating step. In accordance with the invention, the first and second coating steps are applied integrated within the same coating line. The application of a first barrier layer and an extrusion coated layer in the same coating line in accordance with the invention has shown to give rise to a packaging material with remarkably good barrier properties, especially gas-, liquid and/or grease barrier properties, for the packaging of food and/or liquid.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for deep-drawing a tray (1) from fiber-based sheet material (2), such as polymer coated board. The apparatus comprises a female moulding tool (3), which comprises a cavity (7) for forming the tray bottom outwardly, a male moulding tool (4), which comprises a plunger plate (11) for forming the tray bottom inwardly, the plunger plate being movable with respect to the cavity for forming the tray, and clamps (6, 15) with an interface for holding the sheet material and forming a tray rim flange. According to the invention by laterally distancing at least one of the moulding tools (3, 4) from the sheet material leeway is provided for free forming of the tray side walls while wrinkling or tearing of the same is avoided. Spacer plates (13) may be positioned behind the plunger plate (11), to adjust its position in relation to the cavity (7) of the female moulding tool (3). The cavity may have a separate bottom plate (8) and spacer plates (9) there below, or screw means may be provided for adjusting the distance of the bottom of the cavity from the clamp interface and thereby varying the depth of the tray.

    Abstract: The present document discloses a method of determining thickness of a wet film, in particular of microfibrillated cellulose. The method comprises conveying said film (20) in a wet state on a conveyor (10) having a conveyor width, the wet film having a film width which is less than the conveyor width, providing a laser projection (1511) across a film edge, acquiring a series of images, each depicting an area of the conveyor, wherein the laser projection, a portion of the film and a portion of an exposed conveyor surface are visible, and using at least some of said images to determine at least one of a film thickness and a film thickness distribution across the film width.     Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for preparing a bonding resin, wherein lignin is provided in the form of a solution in ammonia and/or an organic base and mixed with one or more crosslinkers and optionally one or more additives. The bonding resin is useful for example in the manufacture of laminates, mineral wool insulation and wood products such as plywood, oriented strandboard (OSB), laminated veneer lumber (LVL), medium density fiberboards (MDF), high density fiberboards (HDF), parquet flooring, curved plywood, veneered particleboards, veneered MDF or particle boards. The bonding resin is also useful for example in composites, molding compounds and foundry applications.
