Abstract:
A holder-side connecting portion 10c provided on a brush holder 10 and a connector-side connecting portion 16b provided on a connector portion 16 are electrically and mechanically connected with each other. The holder-side connecting portion 10c and the connector-side connecting portion 16b are clamped between a yoke housing 4 and a gear housing 21. For this reason, the connecting portions 10c and 16b for connecting the brush holder 10 and the connector portion 16 are prevented from being externally exposed. As a result, the insulation of the connecting portions 10c and 16b can be secured without complicating the construction of the connecting portions 10c and 16b by applying a special seal or the like to the connecting portions 10c and 16b.
Abstract:
A terminal board assembly for a multi-voltage device. The terminal board assembly includes a terminal board including a terminal block. The terminal board is configured for attachment to the multi-voltage device. The terminal block is configured to electrically couple with an electrical power source and the multi-voltage device. The assembly also includes a plug that is configured for insertion within the terminal block. The terminal block is configured to receive the plug in at least one of a first inserted position and a second inserted position. The orientation of the plug relative to the terminal block is the same in the first inserted position as in the second inserted position. The terminal block is configured to transfer a first voltage to the multi-voltage device when the plug is attached to the terminal block in the first inserted position. The terminal block is configured to transfer a second voltage to the multi-voltage device when the plug is attached to the terminal block in the second inserted position.
Abstract:
A method for attaching an electric conductor to an electrically conductive terminal. The electric conductor comprises a wire and a cladding surrounding the wire. The wire has an exposed end portion extending from an end of the cladding. The method comprises placing a sleeve over the electric conductor. The sleeve is of an electrically insulative material. The method further includes positioning the exposed end portion of the wire adjacent the terminal, securing the exposed end portion of the wire to a first portion of the terminal in a manner so that the exposed end portion of the wire is mechanically secured to and electrically coupled to the terminal, moving the sleeve along the electric conductor to a position in which a portion of the sleeve is adjacent the terminal, and securing the sleeve to a second portion of the terminal in a manner so that the sleeve is mechanically secured to the terminal.
Abstract:
A three-phase connector carries all three phases in one connector and keeps the phases properly isolated from each other and the motor case. The three-phase connector has metal connector components that are spaced from one another and supported in a nylon over molding covering each of the connector components, except for upper and lower exposed ends of the connector components, which are each drilled and tapped to receive bolts. First and second connector components extend above and below a flange of the three-phase connector with their respective exposed upper and lower ends offset in different planes than the exposed upper and lower ends of the third connector component.
Abstract:
A method of reducing the height of a sealed compressor incorporates the use of a non-cylindrical portion of the stator windings on the compressor motor. A non-cylindrical portion provides a space between the sealed housing and the windings that can accommodate an additional component. In one embodiment, the additional component is the electrical connection, and in another embodiment, the additional component is an oil heater. Typically, these components were mounted axially beyond the extent of the motor stator, and thus required additional space. The present invention thus allows a smaller height compressor profile.
Abstract:
A low-profile in-shaft connector including a female connector (82) and a male connector (90) for electrically connecting a power source to the electrical windings of a motor for rotating a magnetic disc storage system. The female connector (82) includes a sleeve extension (50) that extends down and around the three pins (72, 74, 76) of the female connector and engages the outward sides of the pins in order to prevent lateral deflection of the pins and thereby increase the spring biasing force of the electrical connection between the male and female connector components.
Abstract:
An electric compressor has improved ability to connect an end of a stator winding with fastening terminals so that electrical connection can be established between the stator winding and the sealed terminal. The electric compressor includes lug terminal strips connected electrically to ends of lead wires from the stator winding each covered with an insulating tube, and fastening terminals connected through the lug terminal strips to the sealed terminal for supplying power to the electric elements. The lug terminal strips are manufactured by press molding and each includes a pair of conductor pressing portions, a cylindrical portion formed on one side of the conductor pressing portions, and a pair of insulating film fixing portions formed on the other side of the conductor pressing portions so that the fastening terminal can be connected to the cylindrical portion by pressing the conductor pressing portions onto the stator winding and fixing the insulating film fixing portions to the insulating tube by pressure welding.
Abstract:
A hermetic terminal for carrying electric current into the housing of a hermetic compressor, including a cup-shaped metallic body member having a plurality of metallic conductor pins extending therethrough which are electrically insulated from the body member by hermetic glass seals. The body member includes a closed end having an inwardly facing contoured end surface, to which a correspondingly contoured contacting surface of an electrically insulating cap member is secured by means of a uniform layer of electrically insulating bonding material therebetween. The pins extend through passages in the cap member, whereby the cap member defines an oversurface distance between the pins and the body member. A portion of the oversurface distance is protected from contaminants which the compressor housing by means of an annular gap between the outer periphery of the cap member and the sidewall of the body member, and by respective annular gaps between the pins and corresponding passages in the cap member.
Abstract:
An object of the present invention is to improve heat radiation performance of a heat sink without increasing the number of members. A terminal block 10 to be fixed to a motor case C which houses a motor body and includes a coolant flow path C1 and adapted to fasten busbars by tightening bolts includes nuts 30 for tightening the bolts, and a heat sink 40 made of aluminum die-cast and held in close contact with the nuts 30 via an insulation plate 20 behind the nuts 30. The heat sink 40 includes a heat radiating portion 46 which comes into contact with cooling water passing in the coolant flow path C1 of the motor case C.
