Abstract:
A self-adhesive surface protection film, particularly for covering painted sheet metal and high-gloss sheet metal made of aluminum or stainless steel, has a layered laminate containing at least a carrier layer and an adhesive layer. The layered laminate is produced by means of coextrusion and the coextruded adhesive layer is based on polyisobutylene and/or on a styrene block copolymer.
Abstract:
The invention relates to compatibilized release compositions useful in release layers of release articles (e.g., release liners) and adhesive articles (e.g., pressure sensitive adhesive tapes). The compatibilized release compositions comprise a mixture of a thermoplastic olefin-based polymer comprising an acid or a base functionality and a polymeric release material comprising an acid or a base functionality. The functionality of the thermoplastic olefin-based polymer and the functionality of the polymeric release material are selected to provide an acid-base interaction.
Abstract:
A double-sided heat-sensitive adhesive sheet comprises a support provided with a release layer on one side thereof and heat-sensitive adhesive layers which are formed on both sides of the support and have sufficient adhesion to the support but can be easily peeled apart from the release layer, wherein the release layer and the heat-sensitive adhesive layer has at their interface a 180° peeling resistance of 10-30 g/50 mm in a peel test performed at a peeling speed of 500 mm/min. in an atmosphere of 20° C. and 65% RH. The adhesive sheet is interposed between each opposed pair of information-recorded faces of recording material having on one side at least two spaces for information-recording, and heat is applied to the resultant assembly to make a laminate. The laminate can have a size and weight suitable for mailing as a postcard, and can bear confidential information on the inside and be peeled apart when desired.
Abstract:
Ink-imprintable release coating compositions are described which comprise a polymer comprising a polyurethane, a fluoroacrylate polymer or copolymer, or an addition cured or a condensation cured silicone polymer containing dispersed and/or emulsified resin particles, resin particle domains, or both, and, optionally, inorganic particles. The resin particles comprise resins which are different from the polymers and the resins comprise polyurethanes, polyamides, and polyureas. Ink-imprintable label, tape and stamp constructions also are described which comprise a plurality of contiguous labels, tapes or stamps in a roll or stacked sheet configuration without an independent release liner wherein the labels, tapes and stamps have a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back surface and a cured ink-imprintable release coating on the face surface.
Abstract:
An aqueous emulsion-type release coating composition comprising (i) a product produced by reaction of an ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer represented by the formula (1): 1 wherein the sum of n, m and mnull is an integer of 300-3,000, ratio of n/(nnullmnullmnull) is 0.1-0.9, and ratio of m/(mnullmnull) is 0.9-1.0, with a C8-30 alkyl isocyanate, and (ii) a surface active agent which is a combination of a nonionic surface active agent having a hydrophilic-lyophilic balance (HLB) of not larger than 12, with an ionic surface active agent. The release coating composition is used as a release agent for a pressure sensitive adhesive tape or contact sheet.

Abstract:
Ink-imprintable compositions comprise a reaction product of a mixed emulsion containing a carboxylic acid terminated polydimethylsiloxane, or an isocyanate terminated polydimethylsiloxane, a hydrophilic isocyanate reactive agent, a polyisocyanate, and at least one dihydroxy terminated oligomer. Ink-imprintable stamp constructions also comprise a plurality of contiguous stamps in a roll or stacked sheet configuration without an independent release liner wherein the stamps have a pressure-sensitive adhesive on the back surface of the stamps and the above ink-imprintable release coating on the face surface of the stamps.
Abstract:
A silicone release composition having a non-gloss, i.e., matte finished, surface and a linerless label incorporating the silicone release composition. The release composition includes a crosslinked silicone-based polymer having microparticles of a polymeric wax at least partially embedded therein. The polymeric wax may be polytetrafluoroethylene, polypropylene or other polyolefin, or a hydrocarbon-based wax. The microparticles of polymeric wax cause incidental light to scatter upon reflection, giving the release composition surface matte appearance. This makes the release composition particularly useful for linerless labels on which bar coded information will be printed. Also, a method for producing linerless label stock. The method includes mixing an uncured silicone material with microparticles of a polymeric wax. The mixture is coated onto a substrate and exposed to UV radiation to cure or crosslink the silicone around the microparticles of wax. An adhesive is coated onto the side of the substrate opposite the silicone release composition and the coated substrate is wound into a roll of linerless label stock.
Abstract:
POLYIMINE-AMIDE RELASE COATING AGENTS PARTICULARLY USEFUL ON PRESSURE-SENSITIVE ADHESIVE TAPES. THE POLYIMINE-AMIDE RELEASE AGENTS ARE POLY-N-ACYL-IMINES, WHICH ARE ACYL DERIVATIVES OF POLYALKYLIMINES HAVING A STRAIGHT OR BRANCH CHAIN, OR ACYL DERIVATIVES OF A POLYAMIDE OR A POLYALKYLIMINE AND A DICARBOXYLIC ACID, WHEREIN SAID POLYAMIDE HAS A PLURALITY OF PRIMARY OR SECONDARY AMINO GROUPS.
Abstract:
AN ADHESIVE COATED LABEL INCLUDES A COATED PAPER CONSTRUCTION HAVING A PAPER BASE PRINTED WITH LABEL''S MESSAGE ON ONE SIDE AND COATED ON THE OTHER SIDE WITH AN ADHESIVE. A RELEASE COATING ON THE PRINTED SURFACE PREVENTS STICKING OF THE ADHESIVE TO THE PRINTED SIDE OF THE LABEL AND ALLOWS FOR GATHERING THE LABEL STOCK INTO ROLLS FOR CONVEN-
IENT USE. THE METHOD BY WHICH THE LABEL IS MADE INCLUDES PRINTING THE LABEL, APPLYING A RELEASE AGENT IN COATED FORM. CURING THE RELEASE AGENT AND THEREAFTER APPLYING AN ADHESIVE COATING TO THE UNDERSIDE OF THE LABEL.
