Abstract:
A dry lubricant (50) for flexible traction members (10), in particular wire cables and/or stranded ropes for static and/or dynamic loads, is characterized in that a major percentage of the dry lubricant (50) consists of a polymer material. Furthermore, in a method for manufacturing a flexible traction member (12) made up of multiple tension-proof elements (1.1, 1.2,..., 1.7, 20), in particular wires and/or strands and/or ropes, a dry lubricant (50) is applied to the tension-proof elements (1.1, 1.2,..., 1.7, 20) before the latter are joined together, said dry lubricant (50) being sprayed onto the tension-proof elements (1.1, 1.2,..., 1.7, 20) in a fluid state.
Abstract:
The present invention is related a steel cord (500, 600) comprising one or more strands (504, 602), said strands comprising at least two filaments, wherein the void spaces between at least two filaments of at least one of said one or more strands are at least partially filled with a composition comprising a thermosetting material (506, 606), characterized in that the thermosetting material (506, 606) is a heat-curable one-component thermosetting material. Further, the invention relates to a steel cord (100, 200, 300) comprising at least two strands (102, 104, 202, 204, 302, 304), said strands comprising at least two filaments, wherein the void spaces (105, 205, 305) between at least two strands are at least partially filled with a composition comprising a thermosetting material (106, 206, 306), characterized in that the thermosetting material (106, 206, 306) is a heat-curable one- component thermosetting material.
Abstract:
Compositions and methods for treating metal substrates and/or bonding metal substrate to polymeric materials, such as rubber, are provided. The compositions include at least one substantially hydrolyzed amino silane and at least one substantially hydrolyzed sulfur-containing silane. Optionally, the compositions include a nano-size particulate material. The compositions provide coatings on metal substrates for protecting the metal from corrosion and for adhering rubber-like polymeric compositions to the metal with polymer-to-metal vulcanization conditions less dependent on the coating thickness, and with use of less coating materials.
Abstract:
A high strength abrasion-resistant surgical suture material with industry standard knot tying characteristics and color marking characteristics includes a core (12) formed of a plurality of twisted fibers (16) of a first material, surrounded by a braided cover (14) made from fibers (20) of a second material different than the first material. The first material is preferably ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene and the second material is preferably a polymeric material having good knot-tying characteristics.

Abstract:
A steel cord (10) comprises a core with one or more core steel filaments (12) and further comprises a first layer of intermediate steel filaments (14) twisted around the core, and a second layer of second steel filaments (18) twisted around the first layer. At least one of the intermediate steel filaments is individually coated by means of a polymer (16) with a minimum thickness of 0.010 mm. The polymer (16) reduces the fretting between the coated intermediate steel filaments (14) and the other steel filaments and makes the steel cord suitable for reinforcement of carcass plies of a tire.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a (metal/rubber) composite comprising a rubber matrix reinforced with a metal body adhering to the rubber matrix via an adhesive intermediate phase; the rubber matrix is based on diene elastomer; the metal is carbon steel whereof the carbon content ranges between 0.35 % and 1.2 %; to constitute the adhesive intermediate phase, the steel carbon is coated with a metal layer bearing aluminium oxides-hydroxides, itself coated with an organosilane film providing, as coupling agent, the bond between the aluminium oxides-hydroxides and the rubber matrix. The invention also concerns articles or semi-finished products made of rubber reinforced with or consisting of said composite, in particular tyres.
Abstract:
A coated metal reinforcement element for polymeric or elastomeric materials comprises a coating of: a polymer or prepolymer compatible with and co-polymerizable, co-vulcanizable or cross-linkable with said polymeric or elastomeric material to be reinforced, and bearing functional groups; either covalently bonding to the metal surface of said reinforcement element; or forming covalent bonds with the outward directed first functional groups of a mono- or multimolecular layer of a bifunctional adhesion promotor intercalated between said metal and said coating and bound to said metal by its second functional groups. A method for the coating includes a one step and a two step procedure.
