The object of the invention is a traction sheave elevator and a rope that contains metal as a load-bearing material, such as the suspension rope of an elevator, which rope comprises at least one or more strands laid from metal wires and which rope is lubricated with a lubricant. Another object is the use of the aforementioned lubricant for lubricating the rope. The lubricant comprises at least oil and thickener, which thickener in the lubricant comprises at least 10% or more of the mass of the lubricant.

A grease composition for use in resin lubrication wherein at least one amine salt of an unsaturated or saturated fatty acid is incorporated in a grease base material which includes a base oil and a thickener, preferably wherein at least one fatty acid amine salt of the following general formula (1) is incorporated: RCOO− R′ NH3+ wherein either (i) R is an unsaturated hydrocarbon group having from 15 to 21 carbon atoms, and R′ is a saturated or unsaturated linear or branched hydrocarbon group having from 8 to 22 carbon atoms; or (ii) R is a linear saturated hydrocarbon group having from 5 to 21 carbon atoms, and R′ is an unsaturated hydrocarbon group having from 16 to 18 carbon atoms. Component (A): 100 mass parts of organopolysiloxane wherein a thixotropicity degree α is 1.03-1.50, a viscosity is 100-1,000,000 mPa · s at 25°C; in this regard, the thixotropicity degree α is η 1/ η 2 . Herein, η 1 is a measured viscosity at 25°C measured by a B type rotation viscometer at 6 rpm of a rotor, η 2 is a measured viscosity at 25°C measured by a B type rotation viscometer at 12 rpm of the rotor. A grease-like silicone composition comprising at least (A) a liquid organopolysiloxane comprising 80 to 96.5 mol% of siloxane units represented by the formula R2SiO2/2, 1.0 to 10.0 mol% of siloxane units represented by the formula RSiO3/2, and 0.25 to 10.0 mol% of siloxane units represented by the formula R3SiO1/2 (in the formulas, R stands for identical or different monovalent hydrocarbon groups) and (B) a thickening agent is disclosed. A grease-like silicone composition can be provided that is capable of containing a large amount of thickening agents and possesses superior heat resistance.

A lubricant composition comprising a lubricating base oil, fine particles and a calcium sulfonate-based thickener, a speed reduction gear filled with the lubricant composition, and an electric power steering apparatus comprising the speed reduction gear are disclosed. It is possible to reduce the operating noise of a speed reduction gear regardless of the amount of backlash that occurs on combining a small gear and a large gear without a more complicate structure of the speed reduction gear by an action of the fine particles while preventing separation of oil by an action of the calcium sulfonate-based thickener added to the lubricant composition, and thus the noise in the inside of car generated by the electric power steering apparatus can be reduced with a low cost.

A grease composition comprising a grease containing, in a base oil thereof, from 2 to 40% by weight, based on the total composition, of tricalcium phosphate [Ca3(PO4)2], the grease further containing (A) from 0.5 to 10% by weight, based on the total composition, of a molybdenum dialkyldithiocarbamate sulfide and (B) from 0.1 to 5% by weight, based on the total composition, of at least one of a zinc dialkyldithiophosphate and triphenyl phosphorothionate. The grease composition is excellent in mechanical stability, heat resistance, extreme pressure properties, and wear resistance.

The invention provides composites of organic polymeric compositions including a matrix of an organic polymer and a filler distributed throughout the matrix, the filler being present in the matrix substantially as separate particles, each about the fundamental particle size of the filler. The fillers are unique mixed metal hydroxide compositions that are obtainable in sub-micron size particles. These particles are layered and have a BET specific surface area in excess of about 100 m2/g. An anion of the particulates is selected to be compatible with the organic polymer thereby providing ease of dispersion of the filler particles throughout the polymer matrix.
