Abstract:
A laboratory sample distribution system is presented. The system comprises sample container carriers carrying a sample container and comprising a magnetically active device. The system also comprises a transport plane supporting the sample container carriers and comprises drive modules comprising first line shaped conductors extending in a first direction and arranged parallel to each other and second line shaped conductors extending in a second direction and arranged parallel to each other. The system comprises a driver electrically connected to each of the first and second conductors of the drive modules. The driver selectively applies a drive current and/or voltage to the first and second conductors such that a conductor current results in the conductors driven by the drive current and/or voltage. The conductor current selectively causes a drive force to the sample container carriers such that the sample container carriers move along individual transport paths on the transport plane.
Abstract:
A system and method for simultaneously filling containers of different shapes and/or sizes are disclosed. A plurality of vehicles are routable along a track system to facilitate simultaneous delivery of first containers and second containers to different unit operation stations. The first and second containers may differ from one another in outer shape and/or interior volume.
Abstract:
A vacuum holder for articles, a combination of a vacuum holder and an article, a system for holding and conveying articles, and a method for holding and conveying articles are disclosed. The vacuum holder includes a main body having a surface and an air passageway leading to the surface, and a valve joined to the main body and in fluid communication with the air passageway. The vacuum holder includes an extensible skirt gasket with an opening therein. An article can be placed adjacent to the surface of the main body, and a vacuum can be drawn through the air passageway to hold the article to the vacuum holder. The valve maintains the vacuum between the article and the vacuum holder without being connected to a vacuum source, until it is desired to release the article from the vacuum holder.
Abstract:
A novel puck and cover assembly and method for retaining the contents of a container, such as a prescription bottle, during processing and order-filling operations. The puck and cover assembly allows access to the opening of a container when required to perform operations, and automatically returns to cover the opening of a container when operations are completed, to prevent loss of any container contents.
Abstract:
A novel solution is proposed for processing a test tube transported on a test tube carrier by a conveyor so that spilling of the liquid in the test tube is reduced or even prevented, particularly an arrangement for sequencing and guiding travel of test tube carriers transported on at least one conveyor. The arrangement includes at least one rotatable deviator positioned to intersect the at least one conveyor. The deviator includes a horizontal deviator plate including at least one grip for receiving a test tube carrier. One contact surface is positioned vertically at a distance from the deviator plate and aligned with the grip. The contact surface is formed to contact the test tube carrier at a distance from the contact level of the grip and the carrier.
Abstract:
A system for manufacturing an assembly board includes an undersupporting device, a carrier configured to hold the undersupporting device, a transporter, an undersupporting-device installer attachable to and detachable from the undersupporting device, a board processor, and a magnet provided on a lower surface of the undersupporting device. The transporter transports the undersupporting device to a working position by transporting the carrier to the working position while the carrier holds the undersupporting device on the lower surface of the carrier. The transported undersupporting device is fixed to the undersupporting-device installer by a magnetic force of the magnet at the working position. The transporter transports the board to the working position. The undersupporting device supports the lower surface of the board when the board is transported to the working position. The board processor performs a predetermined processing to an upper surface of the board.
Abstract:
A conveyor device for conveying test tube holders in a laboratory distribution system is presented. The conveyor device is a screw conveyor device comprising a helical track having a helix axis and a drive shaft having an axis of rotation parallel or coaxial to the helix axis, which drive shaft is adapted to be driven to rotate about the axis of rotation for causing a movement of one test tube holder or a plurality of test tube holders contacting the helical track between an entry region and an exit region. The entry region and the exit region are spaced in a direction of the helix axis. A laboratory distribution system for conveying test tube holders and a laboratory automation system comprising a laboratory distribution system are also presented.

Abstract:
A pallet according to one embodiment of the present invention conveys a workpiece mounted thereon, and the pallet is equipped with a retaining member that includes a bag member formed of an elastic material, and a particle member filled in the bag member at a portion where the workpiece is mounted, in the retaining member, the particle member is deformed into a desired shape by increasing a volume ratio of the particle member relative to an inner volume of the bag member and the particle member is stiffened while the desired shape of the particle member is retained, wherein in the retaining member, the mounted workpiece is pressed at the portion where the workpiece is mounted so as to deform the particle member into a shape corresponding to the workpiece, and the particle member is stiffened while the shape corresponding to the workpiece is retained.
Abstract:
The invention primarily is directed to an orienting holder for a container that is being filled with a product on a container filling line. The container holder (10) has at least two rollers (18) and a base portion (12). The rollers are made of an elastic material which can be an elastomer inclusive of polymeric foams. The rollers are on arms (15, 16) that project above the base portion and usually will contact the container (30) at an upper part of the container. The arms which support the rollers can pivot. The elastic material of the rollers provide for a positive gripping of the container on the filling line, including a positive grip onto containers which may be partially out of the specified tolerances. The compressibility of the elastic material of the rollers can be enhanced through forming channels (27) in the roller structure.
