Abstract:
Embodiments include determining a reference value on a first device; broadcasting the reference value from the first device; connecting the first device to a second device if the second device requests data from the first device; transmitting any new data if the second device requests data from the first device; generating and broadcasting a new reference value if the first device has new data; broadcasting the reference value from the first device again if the first device does not have new data; receiving a reference value in the second device from the first device; and if the received reference value does not match the stored reference value then transmitting a request from the second device for new data from the first device, receiving new data from the first device into the second device, and storing the received reference value as a new stored reference value. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method and an apparatus for improving customer interaction experiences determines one or more personas associated with a customer based on customer activity on a plurality of interaction channels. One or more persona profiles corresponding to the one or more personas are generated and maintained, where a persona profile is representative of a set of behavioral traits exhibited substantially consistently by the customer when inhabiting a persona. One or more customer interactions are correlated to at least one persona based on the one or more persona profiles, where the one or more customer interactions are conducted over one or more interaction channels. An intention of the customer is predicted based on the correlation of the one or more customer interactions to the at least one persona.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a communication system and a method of maintaining audio communication in a congested communication channel currently bearing the transmission of speech in audio communication between a sender side and a receiver side, the communication channel having at least one signaling channel and at least one payload channel having a quality of service. During the audio communication the quality of service of the payload channel is monitored. If the quality of service of the payload channel is below a threshold the speech at the respective sender side is converted to text; and transmitted over the retained communication channel to the respective receiver side. The text may be converted back to speech at the receiver side.
Abstract:
A device, system and method for audio transmission quality assessment that occurs during the transmission. A transmission channel such as the internet is used to transmit speech that is spoken by a human speaker, captured at a first end, and transmitted over the transmission channel for reproduction at a second end. The processors at each end of the transmission channel are configured to determine one or more characteristics of the speech such as phonemes. The phonemes are transmitted over a back channel of the transmission channel to a processor that compares the speech characteristics that were determined at both ends of the call. The participants are notified of a transmission problem that has had an effect on the intelligibility of the speech that was reproduced at the far end if the comparison does not meet a predetermined quality metric.
Abstract:
The present invention refers to a method (65) and device (17, 19, 39) for detecting a bridged tap (45, 53) within a telecommunication line (13). In order to reliably detect bridged taps of different types, in particular wire pair bridged taps and single wire bridged taps, and/or to determine a type (T) of each detected bridged tap it is suggested that the method comprise determining (73) first transfer function data (Hlog) that characterize an actual transfer function (57) of the telecommunication line; detecting (69) the bridged tap (45, 53) depending on the first transfer function data (Hlog); simulating (97) the telecommunication line (13) based on a result (Lt, L, k) of said detecting; and identifying (99) the type (T) of the bridged tap (45, 53) by comparing results (SHlog1, SHlog2) of said simulating with the first transfer function data (Hlog).
Abstract:
Methods and systems for twisted pair telephone line diagnostics based on patterns of line data occurring over time. An observed data distribution is classified as periodic or based on modeled distributions previously determined to correspond to a known line activity, fault type, or fault location. A disruption or parameter value pattern is classified through statistical inference of operational and performance data collected from the line. Where the disruption and/or parameter value(s) correlate with a time the customer is at the customer premises, an inference is made that the line fault causing the disruption is more likely at the CPE than at the Central Office. Where the disruption distribution is classified as being a result of human activities initiated on the line, a fault condition associated with the activity is inferred. Where a disruption pattern is correlated with human initiated plain old telephone service (POTS), a micro-filter problem is inferred for the line.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of recommending that two people form a link on a social networking system use activities conducted by the two people on a telephony system to determine if the two people are likely acquainted. If it appears that both parties are calling each other, or if both parties are placing or receiving calls from common individuals, a recommendation that they form a link on the social networking system is issued to one or both parties.
Abstract:
A method for filtering anonymous telephone communications from a calling device to a called device is disclosed. The called device is communicatively connected to a communications service provider and the method comprises the steps of determining that a request, received from a calling device having a calling number, is for establishing a telephone communication with a called device in a hidden mode; generating an encrypted identifier, the encrypted identifier linking the calling number of a hidden mode request to an encryption key, wherein said encryption key being uniquely assigned to the called device; transmitting over the communication network for receipt by the called device the telephone communication request using said encrypted identifier; and in response to receiving from the called device an authorization for said encrypted identifier, establishing the telephone communication between the calling device and the called device.
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods and a communication device for establishing a communication transmission (ALTV), wherein upon detecting an original signaling (SIGRA) directed from a first terminal (EG2) to a second terminal (EG2) within the scope of an establishment of a connection, the second terminal (EG2) being addressed via a target address associated with the second terminal (EG2), it is recorded in what quantity further signalings (SIGRA) having the same sender address specifying the first terminal (EG1) and the same target address are detected within the scope of further attempts to establish a connection. An evaluation of time information is carried out with regard to the times of the detection of the detected original signaling (SIGRA) and the detected further signalings (SIGRA) in relation to at least one predetermined time period. In case of a positive evaluation result, and upon exceeding the recorded number of detected further signalings having the same sender address and the same target address compared to a comparison value, an alternative communication transmission (ALTV) is established for a connection establishing attempt detected last of the further connection establishing attempts.
