Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a cord suitable for forming a knot, a splice joint part and a thimble joint by making a polymer component suitable for a partial melting exist on the surface of a cord. CONSTITUTION: A polymer having a melting point lower than a polymer filament, fiber and/or yarn forming a cord is especially made to exist in a stressed region of a yarn and a heating treatment is performed at a temperature higher than a melting point of a polymer having a lower melting point and below a melting point of polymer filament, fiber and/or yarn forming the cord to form a knot, a splice joint or a thimble joint.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To produce a yarn where filaments are difficult to move, suitable for bulletproof wovens, knits, nonwovens or the like by combining polymer filaments having high tensile strength, high modulus and a low friction coefficients, or the like and filaments having high friction coefficient, or the like. CONSTITUTION: This combined yarn is produced by combining (A) polymer filaments (or yarns) having high tensile strength, high modulus and low friction coefficients, e.g. formed through the formation of fiber made of a linear polyethylene having an ultrahigh molecular weight, and (B) filaments (or yarns) having high friction coefficients, made of rubber, cotton, an elastomer, a polyacrylate, a polymethacrylate or a polyurethane. The fiber (or yarn) components do not move individually in the fabric produced by means of the combined yarn.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To obtain a composite material having filaments rigidly bonded to a rubber matrix in the state original characteristics are maintained by fixing polyolefin filaments having a high tensile strength and a high modulus to the rubber by using a low melting point polymer having a low molecular weight. CONSTITUTION: The composite material is obtained by bonding filaments of a polyolefin having a high molecular weight, a high tensile strength and a high modulus to a rubber by using a low melting point polymer having a low molecular weight as a fixing agent. Since the polyolefin filaments having the high molecular weight or a structure manufactured by it of the composite material is preferably adhered to a rubber matrix while maintaining the sufficient tensile strength and the modulus, a high tension and/or high compression force are given to a pressure hose, rubber hose or the like using the composite material. The polyolefin preferably has an ultra-high molecular weight or particularly a molecular weight of 600000 G/mol or more. As the low melting point polymer having the low molecular weight, a polymer made of polyolefin, ethylene- vinylacetate copolymer or ethylene-acrylate copolymer is desired.

Abstract: PURPOSE: To smoothen foam in a liquid phase to form a smooth foam layer on an irregular surface by keeping the same foam volume in a liquid phase and in a setting phase, for preventing inflation during setting. CONSTITUTION: A settable composition composed chiefly of an unsaturated polyester and a monomer containing an ethylenic unsaturated coupling is mixed with a gas in order to obtain foam, whereby this polyester foam is applied about 0.1 to 5 cm. In that case, the foam is applied in site on a roof with an irregular surface and is allowed to set to provide a polyester top layer on the top face of the foam.
