Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a process for the selective synthesis of triorganophosphite intermediates, including mono- and di-phosphites, from phosphorus trihalides, alcohols and triorganoamines where the alcohol and the triorganoamine are added either (a) separately but concurrently and continuously, (b) separately, concurrently but discontinuously, or (c) separately, discontinuously and in alternating portions of triorganoamine and alcohol.
Abstract:
A catalyst composition and a process for using it to decompose nitrous oxide into nitrogen and oxygen are disclosed. The catalyst composition has surface area of about 1 to about 200m 2 /g after exposure to a calcination temperature of between about 400°C and about 900°C, or about 1 to about 100 m2/g after exposure to a calcination temperature of between about 400°C and about 950°C.

Abstract:
A compact continuous over end take-off creel system (100' ' ') with a tension control apparatus (110-3) permits unwinding of high tack elastomeric threads from multiple thread packages (105). Thread tension is monitored and controlled through a variable speed motor of a driven take-off roll (130) to maintain continuous operation of the creel system by avoiding breakage of elastomeric threads. Separate motors and thread tension sensors (117), optionally in combination with pretensioners (113A), may be used for groups of threads or for individual threads.
Abstract:
The composition 3-alkylated-5,5',6,6',7,7',8,8'-octahydro-2,2'-binaphthols and 3,3'-dialkylated- 5,5',6,6',7,7',8,8'-octahydro-2,2'-binaphthols are disclosed, as well as various processes for making them, all involving the alkylation of 5,5',6,6',7,7',8,8'-octahydro-2,2'-binaphthol.
Abstract:
A process for the manufacture of a lactam from an amino alkane nitrile and/or its hydrolysis derivatives, comprising reacting a solution comprising at least about 5% by weight amino alkane nitrile in water at a temperature of greater than or equal to about 350°C and at a pressure of greater than about 250 bar. Optionally, a dilute acid may be added as a catalyst.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a polyurethane elastic yarn which is excellent in elongation, resilience, heat resistance, alkali resistance, chemical resistance, and capability of being dyed with a cationic dye and which is suitable for use in a stretch cloth, a wearing apparel or the like. The polyurethane elastic yarn comprises: an elastic yarn comprising a polyurethane mainly composed of a polymer diol and a diisocyanate; and a polymer of a compound having a sulfonate group contained in the elastic yarn.
