A lubricant composition for lubricating an interface between an inner surface of a tire and a safety support ring in a run-flat tire system that includes a lubricating agent selected from glycerol, polyalkylene glycol or combinations thereof and a thixotropic agent. The thixotropic agent is an organoclay comprising a mineral clay mixture treated with an alkyl quaternary ammonium salt, wherein the mineral clay mixture comprises at least one of sepiolite, palygorsl¬te and a smectite and wherein a combined amount of palygorskite and sepiolite in the mineral clay mixture is between about 50 wt. % and about 100 wt. % with a balance of the mineral clay mixture being essentially the smectite. The lubricating agent may also be selected from a copolymer that is a mixture of alkylene oxides, preferably a mixture of ethylene oxide and propylene oxide.

The invention concerns a lubricating grease, characterised in that it comprises 70 to 95 wt. % of a mixture containing at least a first fatty acid ester and sorbitan and at least a second fatty acid ester and polyalkoxylated sorbitan, said esters being present in weight amounts, relative to the weight of said mixture, of 10 to 90 % and 90 to 10 % respectively, and 5 to 30 wt. % of at least a thickening agent. The invention also concerns a method for preparing a grease in accordance with the invention, and the use of such a grease as lubricant. The invention further concerns a vehicle wheel comprising the inventive grease.

A grease composition for use as a cable filling material which contains about 75 to 95 parts by weight of a base component of a polyol or ester having a molecular weight of at least about 3000 and about 2 to 20 parts by weight of colloidal particles such as silica. Optionally, an antioxidant component can be added to impart high temperature resistance or a rubber component can be added to improve bleed resistance. Also, an article of manufacture of a cable having a sheath with one of the grease compositions of the invention located therein, and a method for filling the cable with such grease compositions.

A grease composition for a constant velocity joint containing a base oil, a thickener, boron nitride powders, and a sulfur-phosphorus containing extreme pressure agent. The content of the thickener is 2 to 25 weight %, that of the boron nitride powders is 0.5 to 20 weight %, and that of the sulfur phosphorus containing extreme pressure agent is 0.1 to 10 weight %, each based on a total weight of the grease composition. The grease composition exhibits superior anti-flaking performance and can prolong the life time of a constant velocity joint.

This invention relates to a lubricating composition comprising a major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity and at least one metal-free thiophosphorus acid ester, at least one amine salt of the thiophosphorus acid ester, or a mixture thereof, wherein the thiophosphorus acid ester contains at least one hydrocarbyl terminated oxyalkylene group, at least one hydrocarbyl terminated polyoxyalkylene group, or a mixture thereof. In one embodiment, the thiophosphorus acid ester is a thiophosphorus acid ester represented by the following formula wherein X 1 , X 2 , and X 3 are oxygen or sulfur, provided that at least one of X 1 , X 2 , and X 3 is sulfur; R 1 is a hydrocarbyl group; R 2 is an alkylene group; R 3 is hydrogen or a hydrocarbyl group; x is a number from 1 to about 40; and a is 0, 1, or 2, or at least one salt of the thiophosphorus acid ester. The lubricating compositions, functional fluids and greases have improved antiwear/extreme pressure properties and improved antioxidation properties. In functional fluids, the thiophosphorus acid esters and their salts act as antiwear agents and rust inhibitors.
