    Abstract: A medication safety device and method can include an infusion pump and a drug library in communication with the infusion pump. The drug library can have upper hard and soft limits and lower hard and soft limits associated with at least one drug. A graphical user interface can display a bar chart showing upper and lower soft limit bars for the at least one drug. The upper and lower soft limit bars can be grabbed and dragged on the graphical user interface in touch screen fashion to new positions associated with new upper and lower soft limits. The graphical user interface and associated hardware and software can be configurable to responsively re analyze data and compare a particular infusion to the new upper and lower soft limits.

    Abstract: A pole clamp assembly is configured to facilitate removable coupling of one or more medical devices to a support structure. The pole clamp assembly includes a pole clamp that is configured to selectively grip the supporting structure. The pole clamp includes a fastener hub and a locking mechanism. A docking member is configured to operably couple a medical device of the one or more medical devices to the pole clamp. The docking member includes structure defining a fastener hub aperture and one or more recesses into which a portion of the locking mechanism can selectively reside. The locking mechanism is shiftable between a non-engaged position in which the docking member is rotatable relative to the pole clamp, and an engaged position in which rotation of the docking member relative to the pole clamp is inhibited.

    Abstract: A needle assembly for sampling fluid from a patient including a needle guard, an insertion needle, and a needle housing. The distal end of the needle guard includes a nose portion and a flexible nose extension defining a fluid collection reservoir. The proximal end of the needle guard includes a push feature. The insertion needle has a sharpened distal tip, a proximal needle end and a shaft defining a lumen extending therebetween. The needle housing is operably coupled to the proximal needle end and is slideably coupled to the needle guard. The needle housing includes a flash chamber including a wall defining a cavity. The cavity is in fluid communication with the lumen of the insertion needle and is sealed at one end by a gas permeable flash plug. The push feature selectively engages the flash plug to divert captured bodily fluids to the fluid collection reservoir for sampling.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating a prescription form is disclosed. The method includes displaying a first menu containing a plurality of therapy menu items. The method also includes displaying a second menu containing at least one qualifier menu item. The method further includes displaying a third menu containing at least one drug menu item. The method includes, upon selection of a therapy menu item, a qualifier menu item, and a drug menu item, selecting a protocol including one or more patient specific pump parameters corresponding to the therapy menu item, the qualifier menu item, and the drug menu item. The method also includes displaying a prescription form including at least one of the one or more patient specific pump parameters.
