Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention include a method and a device for increasing blood flow and controlling the temperature of a mammal by applying a desired pressure to extremities of a mammal. The device generally includes one or more collapsible and pliant body elements (110; 210; 410; 610; 710; 1410), capable of expanding from a first volume into an expanded second volume so the device can receive a portion of an extremity of the mammal therein and then be reduced from the expanded second volume into a pressurized third volume to conformably enclose the portion of the extremity. One or more thermal exchange units (120A/B; 220; 320/B; 420A/B; 620A/B; 720A/B) can be positioned in the one or more collapsible and pliant body elements. Accordingly, the temperature of the extremity of a mammal can be regulated by providing a heated or cooled fluid medium or electric thermal energy to the one or more thermal exchange units. Next, by evacuating the region in which the extremity is enclosed the contact surface area between the extremity of a mammal and the one or more thermal exchange units is increased, due to the external atmospheric pressure acting on the pliant body elements against the skin of the extremity of the mammal. The application of pressure assures that sufficient contact and thermal heat transfer (heating or cooling) is provided to the extremity of the mammal.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a heating device, in particular a heating rod for saunas, comprising at least one heating element that is situated inside a wall. According to the invention, the interior (1') of the wall (1) that houses the heating element or elements (2) is filled at least partially with sand (3) produced from igneous rock.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a set of hand-held massaging devices suitable for use in performing various Swedish massage movements for an all-over body massage. The device is designed such that a user can self-massage or a user can assist or perform a massage on a person in need of Swedish or Aromatherapy massage treatment.
Abstract:
The device consists of an outer flexible membrane, which can be pressed against a part of a body and inner rollers or balls which can be made to roll against the membrane and thus produce a wandering movement of elevations or crowns on the membrane. In this way it is possible to get a wandering movement of the elevations on the membrane while the membrane can be kept stable pressed against the skin. The wavelike movement simlifies and improves the circulation by pushing the bodyliquids around in the treated area. The treatment can be combined with pressurizing and heating in order to improve healing and shaping of bodyparts.
Abstract:
Apparatus for relieving the symptoms of deep vein thrombosis comprises a fabric envelope having on one surface a plurality of projections and on an opposed surface, one or more strips of Velcro (RTM) or similar material for releasably attaching the envelope to a carpeted floor surface. A container fits within the fabric envelope and comprises two side-by-side compartments which communicate with one another through one or more openings. A mouthpiece is provided in the container to enable the compartment to be inflated. The container includes a pocket above one of the two compartments of the container to receive a heating element.
Abstract:
A system and method are provided for self-application of a variety of face and body treatments. Specifically, the system includes a portable control-and-power console (70) and a light-weight portable device having a plurality of spouts (12), designed for different portions of the body, and comprising different features. The different features are adapted for different modes of treatment, such as suction massage treatment (12), lower-chin firming treatment (39), breast firming treatment (31, 33) warming light treatment (46), UV light treatment (46), LLLT (46), ultrasound treatment (60), pulsating magnetic field treatment (62), constant magnetic field treatment (62), electrostimulation treatment (27), cooling-diode treatment (47), warming-diode treatment (47), mechanical epilation (124), and photoepilation (110). Additionally, each spout (12) includes at least two, and preferably three or more features, for applying different modes of treatment, in tandem or in sequence, in accordance with predetermined schedules.

Abstract:
A device for acupressuric treatment, more specifically for stimulating the acupoints BL1 and BL2 on both sides of the root of the nose and over the eyes near the root of the nose, consists, in accordance with the invention, of a resilient, bow-shaped clip (1) that has pads (2, 3) arranged in pairs symmetrically about a plane of symmetry for this clip, which pads are designed to exert pressure against said acupoints when the bow is arranged over the root of the user's nose. While one set of pads (2) faces in towards the plane of symmetry of the bow, the other set of pads (3) faces sideways out from the plane of the bow.
Abstract:
A foot massager is provided in the form of a footbath (1) having first and second foot receiving portions (10). The base (2) of the footbath (1), i.e. the part on which in use rest the feet of a user, is provided with a plurality of moveable massaging elements (31, 50) to perform a massaging function on the feet. In one embodiment the massaging elements are half-round projection (31) formed on a movable member (30) and which project through apertures (33) in an overlying fixed member (32), while in a second embodiment the massaging elements are rotating wheels (50) fixed on the first member (30).
Abstract:
A massaging device comprising a handle (1) with an elongated shape and with a massaging section (8, 17) being releasably connected to said handle. Said massaging section (8, 17) can be directly heated by a heating element (4, 11) provided in the handle or by means of air flowing through a channel (12) provided in the handle (1) through which channel air is passed by means of a fan (13) and along the heating device (11) present in the handle, said air being supplied to the massaging section (8, 17) to heat this portion. Further magnetic means (22) are present in the massaging section (8, 17) for generating a magnetic field around it. Further a metering device can be present for a dosed supply of salve, cream or such like to the massaging section.
