A lubricating oil composition having improved temperature characteristics is disclosed, containing: (A) a base oil having a kinematic viscosity at 100°C of 1.5 to 50 cSt, a pour point of -25°C or lower and a viscosity index of at least 60; (B) an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer having a number average molecular weight of 1,000 to 8,000; and (C) at least one additive selected from an extreme pressure agent, an anti-wear agent, an oiliness agent and a detergent dispersant. The present composition has a high viscosity index and exhibits good temperature characteristics, particularly low temperature characteristics, and further is excellent in shear stability, extreme pressure properties, wear resistance, detergency and so on. Thus it is useful as a gear oil for cars or industrial machines, an internal combustion engine oil, an automatic transmission oil and so on.

The present invention relates to a lubricating oil composition comprising: (A) a mineral oil having a kinematic viscosity at 100°C of 1 to 50 centistokes and a viscosity index of at least 60, (B) 0.5 to 20% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of an ethylene-α-olefin copolymer having a number average molecular weight of 800 (inclusive) to 5,000 (exclusive), (C) 0.05 to 20% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of polymethacrylate having a number average molecular weight of 10,000 to 250,000 or a mixture of said polymethacrylate and an olefin copolymer, and (D-I) 1 to 20% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of a detergent-dispersant and/or an antioxidant, or (D-II) 0.5 to 20% by weight based on the total weight of the composition of at least one member selected from the group consisting of a extreme pressure agent, an anti-wear agent and an oiliness agent. According to the present invention, a multi grade lubricating oil composition which is excellent in shear stability can be obtained.

Schmierstoff für die Verwendung bei der spanlosen Verformung von Stahl bei hohen Temperaturen und insbesondere bei der Herstellung von nahtlosen Rohren in sogenannten Multiple pipe mills, wobei der Schmierstoff wasserfest auf dem Werkzeug haften muss. Erreicht wird dies durch einen Schmierstoff, enthaltend neben einem Festschmierstoff und einem Verdickungsmittel einen Binder aus der Reihe der carboxylierten Styrol-Butadienlatices.

A solid lubricant combination comprising (a) 25 to 65 parts by weight graphite, (b) 15 to 45 parts by weight zinc sulfide, (c) 5 to 20 parts by weight antimony (III) sulfide, and (d) 5 to 20 parts by weight of an alkali earth metal phosphate, or other inorganic metal phosphate or mixtures of such phosphates which are commonly known as solid lubricants, is described. The solid lubricant combination is especially suitable as an additive to friction linings and results in an improvement in their tribological properties.

In einem Verfahren zur Erleichterung der Kaltverfr mung von Metallen wird ein Schmiermittelfilm aufgebracht, indem man zunächst auf die Metalloberflächen eine wäßrige Lösung oder Dispersion eines wasserlöslichen thermoplasti schen Harzes mit einem Gehalt an Melamin/Cyanursäure- bzw. IsocyanursäureAddukt aufbringt und auftrocknet und anschließend mit Metallseife und/oder einem Schmieröl behandelt. Vorzugsweise enthält die waßrige Lösung oder Dispersi on Harz zu Addukt in einem Gewichtsverhältnis von 1 : 0,3 bis 1 : 2. Das Schichtgewicht des aufgetrockneten Harzfilmes soll te 0,3 bis 30 g/m² betragen.

Hochtemperaturschmierstoff für die spanlose Heissumformung von Metallen, der vorzugsweise Form einer in wässriger Dispersion angewendet wird. Um einerseits ein Koagulieren der Feststoffe in der wässrigen Dispersion zu vermeiden, und andererseits einen temperaturbeständigen gleichmässigen Schmierfilm zu erhalten, enthält der Hochtemperaturschmierstoff neben einem Festschmierstoff einem rückstandsfrei sich zersetzenden organischen Produkt zusätzlich einen anorganischen Zusatz aus Polyphosphat, einer Borverbindung und einem Alkalisilikat, sowie ein organisches Stabilisierungsmittel.
