Provided herein is a medium speed diesel engine crankcase lubricating oil composition comprising: (a) major amount of an oil of lubricating viscosity; and (b) 0.1 to 5.0 weight percent of a silver lubricity additive comprising: (i) an alkoxylated fatty amine or salt thereof; (ii) an alkoxylated fatty diamine or salt thereof; or (iii) mixtures of (i) and (ii) above. Also provided is a method for reducing silver bearing wear and friction in medium speed diesel engines comprising lubricating said engine with said lubricating oil composition.

An overbased calcium sulfonate grease composition comprising a reduced amount of overbased calcium sulfonate, calcium hydroxyapatite, base oil, one or more converting agents, and one or more complexing acids if a complex grease is desired. The calcium sulfonate grease composition improves thickener yield and expected high temperature utility as demonstrated by dropping point. A method of making the composition comprising the steps of mixing the calcium sulfonate and base oil, adding the calcium carbonate either before or after conversion, adding one or more converting agents, and adding one or more complexing acids. All or a portion of one or more of the complexing acids may be added with or prior to the one or more converting agents.

The invention provides a lubricating composition containing an oil of lubricating viscosity and an amine or ammonia salt of a carboxylic acid compound where said carboxylic acid is characterized in that it is functionalized with a hydroxy-substituted aromatic moiety. The invention further relates to methods of lubricating an internal combustion engine by supplying the described lubricating composition to the internal combustion engine. The invention further relates to the use of the salt of the carboxylic acid compound as an antiwear agent or an antioxidant.

An electrorheological fluid of polar molecule type is mainly composed of a mixture of solid dispersed particles and a fluid-dispersing agent. There are polar molecules or groups on surfaces of the dispersed solid particles and/or the fluid-dispersing agent. The polar molecules or groups have a molecular dipole of 0.5-10 Debey and sizes of 0.1-8nm. The dispersed solid particles are spherical or spherical-like, the size of which is 10-300nm and the dielectric constant of which is more than 50. Electrical conductivity of the fluid-dispersing agent is below 10 -8 S/m and dielectric constant of the fluid-dispersing agent isbelow 10. The electrorheological fluid has the following characters: high yield strength, high dynamic shear intensity, low leakage current, linear relation between yield strength and electric field intensity, and high yield strength under weak electric field intensity. Yield strength of the fluid is nearly hundred times more than that of traditional ER fluid and is up to more than 200KPa.

Dargestellt und beschrieben wird ein Metallblech oder Metallblechzuschnitt mit einer Beschichtung aus Schmierstoff, insbesondere einem Korrosionsschutzöl, Pre-Lube und/oder Dry-Lube, wobei das Metallblech oder der Metallblechzuschnitt eine Schicht umfasst, welche durch Aufbringen einer einen organischen Phosphorsäureester enthaltenden Lösung auf die metallische Oberfläche des Blechs gebildet ist. Derartig beschichtete Metallbleche weisen ausgezeichnete tribologische Eigenschaften auf.
