Abstract:
A grease composition for a constant velocity joint containing a base oil, a thickener, boron nitride powders, and a sulfur-phosphorus containing extreme pressure agent. The content of the thickener is 2 to 25 weight %, that of the boron nitride powders is 0.5 to 20 weight %, and that of the sulfur phosphorus containing extreme pressure agent is 0.1 to 10 weight %, each based on a total weight of the grease composition. The grease composition exhibits superior anti-flaking performance and can prolong the life time of a constant velocity joint.
Abstract:
Waterborne lubricants comprising: (A) water-soluble inorganic salt; (B) homogeneously dispersed solid lubricant; (C) at least one homogeneously emulsified substance selected from mineral oils, animal and plant oils and fats, and synthetic oils; (D) surfactant; and (E) water, in which the weight ratio (B)/(A) is from 0.05:1 to 2:1 and the weight ratio {C/(A + B)} is from 0.05:1 to 1:1, provide a one-step, highly lubricating waterborne lubricant for use in the cold plastic working of metals. This waterborne lubricant can replace the conversion coating treatment (phosphate, oxalate, etc.) + reactive soap treatment combined lubrication system now in general use and is free of the environmental issues associated with the combined lubrication system, provides for facile coating removal, and is not subject to the decline in seizure resistance caused by nonuniform add-on when large numbers of workpieces are treated together by immersion.
Abstract:
A cooling, lubricating and cleaning agent, for use by the metalworking industry, produced by the condensation reaction between an excess amino alcohol with boric acid and the addition of a carboxylic acid to the complex boron containing diamine formed in the reaction system.
Abstract:
The electroviscous suspension is based on a mixture of aqueous silica gel with silicone oil as the liquid phase to which a dispersant is added. The dispersant consists of amino functional or silicon-functional polysiloxanes having a molecular weight above 800. The concentration of the dispersant is from 1 to 30% by weight and preferably from 5 to 20% by weight, based on the silica gel particles. Electroviscous suspensions such as these are distinguished by the fact that they are highly compatible with elastomeric materials, non-sedimenting, non-inflammable and physiologically acceptable. In addition, they are heat- and freeze-resistant over a wide temperature range and are largely unaffected by temperature and pressure in their viscosity.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a low-friction member imitating shark skin and a manufacturing method therefor, the low-friction member implementing a structure similar to shark skin and having riblets by stacking, in layers, composite particles formed by attaching spherical particles on the surfaces of plate-shaped particles, and thus the low friction member has excellent low-friction characteristics. The present invention comprises: a base plate; plate-shaped particles stacked in layers on the surface of the base plate in the form of scales; and a plurality of spherical metal lubricating particles having a size smaller than that of the plate-shaped particles, and coated on the surfaces of the plate-shaped particles, wherein the metal lubricating particles are arranged in the form of a bridge connecting the base plate and the plate-shaped particles, and the plate-shaped particles to each other.
Abstract:
A wiresaw cutting fluid composition of the present invention comprises 25 to 75 % by weight of a particulate abrasive suspended in an aqueous carrier containing a polymeric viscosity modifier that comprises a polymer including a majority of non-ionic monomer units (preferably 100 mol % non-ionic monomer units), has a number average molecular weight (M n ) of at least 5 kDa, and is present in the composition at a concentration sufficient to provide a Brookfield viscosity for the composition in the range of 50 to 1000 cP, e.g., 50 to 700 cP, at 25 °C at a spindle rotation rate of 60 rpm. In one embodiment, the viscosity modifier comprises a polymer having a weight average molecular weight (M w ) of at least 200 kDa. When a viscosity modifier of 200 kDa or greater Mw is utilized, a preferred wiresaw cutting method the cutting fluid is circulated and applied by pumps and nozzles operating at a relatively low shear rate of not more than 10 4 s -1 .
Abstract:
The passage of a container along a conveyor is lubricated by applying to the container or conveyor a lubricant composition comprising a water-miscible silicone material having a silicone emulsion wherein the silicone emulsion contains less than 500 ppm of a triethanolamine salts of alkyl benzene sulfonic acid compounds.
