Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nose cannula by which comfort of a patient can be heightened by controlled delivery of gas and coagulation matters generated in a usable gas delivery system are reduced, because it is extremely desirable that temperature of respiratory gas delivered to the patient is controlled at an actual delivery point of gas to a patient so that respiratory gas is securely applied to the patient at a desired gas temperature level and a humidity level. SOLUTION: A method for controlling delivery of respiratory gas to a user includes a step to heat the respiratory gas up to temperature sufficient for delivering at a predetermined temperature level in a flow passage to the user, a step to transport the respiratory gas at a predetermined flow rate to the user, a step to administer the respiratory gas at a predetermined flow rate and a predetermined temperature level to the user, and a step to heat-contact the respiratory gas with a temperature sensor in a first flow passage and to monitor the temperature of the respiratory gas by substantially directly passing the respiratory gas to the user in a second flow passage. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a computer readable medium including a plurality of standing orders regarding drug delivery for controlling operation of a medical pump in order to improve patient safety and overall efficiency.SOLUTION: The invention provides a method of programming a medical pump, the method comprising the steps of: selecting a therapy from a memory; upon selection of a therapy, selecting a therapeutic agent for delivery; and generating a standing order, the standing order including data for controlling operation of the medical pump.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle assembly designed to be attached to an adapter for correct connection to a specific medication container or a medication wire.SOLUTION: The needle assembly includes a needle hub 4 formed into a specific shape where the needle hub is just connected to one end of the adapter 20. The adapter 20 is formed to have a complementary shape for mutually and readily connecting the adapter 20 to the needle hub 4. The other end of the adapter 20 has a conventional receptacle end 24 having a lure shape connected to a conventional lure-adapted medication container, for example, a syringe or a medical fluid wire. The needle hub 4 cannot be connected to the conventional lure because it is designed to have a specific form. Accordingly, when an injection needle is inserted into a patient, an injection assembly 2 is not erroneously connected to a fluid container including a medication that is harmful to the patient.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter that is adapted to be interposed between a medication providing device and a connector, and designed to prevent the medication providing device from being removed therefrom, once the device is secured to one end of the adapter.SOLUTION: An adapter includes a housing shroud that is fitted at one end with a core and at its other end with an inner shroud. Once fitted to the housing shroud, the core and the inner shroud each are not removable from the housing shroud. A catch mechanism is designed such that, once a connector is fully mated to the inner shroud, a rotational movement along a coupling direction causes the inner shroud to rotate freely relative to the housing shroud. The catch mechanism is configured to allow the connector to be removed if the connector were to be turned in a counter rotational direction. The connecting portion of the inner shroud is configured to accept a complementary connector and the connecting portion of the core is configured to accept a complementary connector to ensure that a proper medication conveying path is established between a medication providing device and a patient.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a needle guard mechanism for protecting a user and another person from the sharpened tip of a needle after drawn out of a patient.SOLUTION: A clip is equipped with a first wall (16), a second wall (20) and struts (24 and 26) extended from the first wall of the clip at a forming angle below 90° with respect to the first wall and made the same in the forming angle in both of the first state of the clip allowing a needle shaft to pierce and a second state of the clip grasping the needle shaft therein.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new designs for infusion devices and devices used to assist in the introduction of an infusion device into the skin of a patient to deliver a substance into the skin.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for insertion of a subcutaneous infusion device into the skin of a patient, wherein the infusion device is preset on a needle of an insertion device 100, the needle extends through a cannula 130 of the infusion device and the insertion device 100 is positioned on the skin of the patient, the cannula 130 of the infusion device is introduced into a subcutaneous layer of skin of the patient using the needle of the insertion device 100, and when the cannula 130 is fully inserted by the infusion device and the insertion device 100 is moved to a trigger state, the insertion device 100 automatically retracts the needle while leaving the infusion device placed on the skin of the patient.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved needle protection device for a one-piece needle assembly. SOLUTION: The needle assembly has a base 2 and a housing 4 pivotally connected to the base 4. The base 2 has a distal portion 10 to which a needle 8 is fitted. At the base 2, there is formed longitudinally along its distal portion 10 a catch mechanism 20 that may be in the form of an anchor projection. At the back wall of the housing 4, there is formed projecting from the back wall another catch mechanism 28 that may be configured in the form of two clasping fingers 30. In the housing 4, an internal hook is formed. As the housing 4 and the base 2 are pivoted relative to each other, the needle 8 makes contact with the hook and the respective catch mechanisms at the base 2 and the housing 4 also make contact with each other, resulting in the coupling of the catch mechanisms and the coupling of the needle 8 to the hook. As a result, the catch mechanisms are interlocked and the needle 8 is fixedly retained by the hook within the housing 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a respiratory system heater unit by natural convection cooling. SOLUTION: This heater unit 10 is designed for air to pass first through a transformer 60 and then through a heat sink 90 to which is mounted a power switch 52 to conduct heat from the power switch 25 to the cooling air passing through the heat sink 90. A heat insulating layer may be provided between the heat sink 90 and the transformer 60. The transformer 60 may be a toroidal transformer with the air passing through an aperture 84 thereof 60 such as from a hollow projection 140 extending into the aperture 84. One side of the transformer 60 may be situated along a predetermined surface 94 and the heat sink 90 secured to the heater unit 10 against the opposite side of the transformer 60 to hold the transformer 60 in a predetermined place. A venting chamber 184 may be associated with an air exhaust 168 to provide a circuitous exit path for air exiting the heater unit. The venting chamber 184 may extend in generally surrounding relationship with the heater 32. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
