A plurality of candidate access terminals for participation in a multi-user packet-based (MUP-based) communication is determined. Two or more candidate access terminals are grouped into a MUP-based group, the grouping based on a hybrid automatic repeat request behavior of the plurality of candidate access terminals. Data is sent to the MUP-based group using a multi-user packet.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device determines a latitude indicator, longitude indicator, and received signal strength for its current location. The devices processes the latitude indicator, longitude indicator, and received signal strength to estimate its elevation at the location. The device also processes its handover history to determine a handover probability factor. The device then processes the estimated elevation and handover probability factor to estimate if the device is located in a building above an elevation level. If the estimate indicates that the device is located within the building above the elevation level, then the device modifies a handover parameter to inhibit handover attempts.

Media and systems for controlling roaming of a mobile device on a wireless-communications network are described. Wireless-communications systems along a coverage area border are designated as roaming border systems. A parameter value is communicated from wireless-communications systems of a home network to a mobile device. The parameter takes on a value indicating whether a mobile device is permitted to initiate a connection to a roaming network. A mobile device is restricted to use of home-network systems when a first parameter value is received. The mobile device is permitted to use home-network and roaming-network systems when a second parameter value is received. Thus, the mobile device can only roam when the second parameter value has been communicated thereto.

A system and method for Acoustic Echo Cancellation. The system and method include a subband affine projection filter and a variable step size controller configured to cancel an estimated echo from a near-end signal. The system and method also include a divergence detector adapted to reset the subband affine projection filter in response to determining a divergence is occurring. Additionally, the system and method include a double talk detector adapted to transmit a signal to mask an output signal when double talk is detected.

An apparatus includes a plurality of call controllers that are capable of establishing a plurality of communication sessions over a packet network using a plurality of signaling protocols. The apparatus also includes an application controller that is capable of supporting one or more supplementary services during each of the communication sessions. As particular examples, the application controller and at least one of the call controllers are capable of at least one of: placing at least one of the communication sessions on hold so a user may initiate another of the communication sessions, placing at least one of the communication sessions on hold so the user may accept another of the communication sessions, and establishing a conference using at least two of the communication sessions. The communication sessions may use a common signaling protocol or different signaling protocols.

A method, system, and computer readable media are provided for transmitting multi-user packets in an evolution data only (EVDO) network. Upon receipt of the data rate control requests of access terminals in the network, an access node can group particular access terminals into groups of shared data rate control access terminals. The access node will generate and later send a multi-user packet based on the requested data rate control of a group of shared data rate control access terminals. The transmission of the multi-user packet shall be accomplished at the requested data rate control of the group of shared data rate control access terminals.
Abstract:
Systems for storing and retrieving thermal energy in encapsulated phase change material are disclosed. Thermal energy is substantially stored and/or retrieved in the form of latent heat. The capsules comprise an outer shell which is impervious to both the heat transfer fluid within which they are submerged and the phase change material encapsulated therewithin. Methods for encapsulating the phase change material are also disclosed.

Lubricating grease compositions have a titanium complex grease component along with a mineral/synthetic oil-based component and a conventional soap or grease. The conventional soaps and greases may be lithium complex, calcium sulfonate, or aluminum complex-based, among others, with and without additives. The compositions are high performance geases, exhibiting improved drop point, extreme pressure, antiwear, oil separation, and shelf life properties.

A system and method for pricing software service requests is provided. The method includes entering input details corresponding to a clients' software service usage data. The method further includes calculating a cost per ticket for each severity level of the software service request. A margin for each severity level is assigned to each severity level in the order of increasing severity. Thereafter, a price per software service request is calculated for each severity level using the corresponding margin. Additionally, the method includes determining an optimal staffing scheme corresponding to one or more software services.
