Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for the formation of multi-layer paint films with the omission of a mid-coat paint coating process. The method comprises the use of a particular aqueous colored paint (A) comprising a prescribed amount of specified titanium oxide that has been compounded, The resulting multi-layer paint films have a very bright paint color, and especially a white or light-colored color, and have excellent concealing properties. The aqueous colored paint (A) is characterized by containing from 50 to 60 mass % with respect to the whole paint solid fraction of titanium oxide of specific surface area not more than 13 m2/g.
Abstract:
To provide a waterborne mid-coat paint composition for obtaining paint films which have an outstanding painting performance (particularly in terms of sagging resistance) and are smooth and give a high- quality appearance. [Solution Means] A waterborne mid-coat paint composition which contains, as indispensible components, (A) a water-soluble or water-dispersible polyester resin, (B) a melamine resin, and (C) polypropylene glycol, where said component (A) is a polyester resin which has been rendered waterborne by adding 7-20 mass%, based on the resin solids content of component (A), of (a) a C1-3 alkoxy group-containing glycol monoalkyl ether to a polyester resin of resin acid value 25-35 mgKOH/g and then neutralizing with a secondary amine and/or tertiary amine, and said component (B) comprises a methylated melamine resin and a methyl/butyl mixed alkylated melamine resin, and the content ratio based on resin solids content by mass of the methylated melamine resin to the methyl/butyl mixed alkylated melamine resin is from 50/50 to 90/10, and the content ratio based on resin solids content by mass of component (A) to component (B) is from 70/30 to 90/10, and said component (C) has a number average molecular weight of between 400 and 1,200, and the content of component (C) by mass percentage is between 1 and 10 mass% in terms of the combined resin solids contents by mass of component (A) and component (B).
Abstract:
A resin composition comprises (A) hydroxyl group containing acrylic resin having a hydroxyl group value of from 5 to 200 mgKOH/g and a number average molecular weight of from 500 to 20,000, (B) hexakisalkoxymethylated melamine resin, (C) de-watering agent, (D) blocked sulfonic acid compound, (E) silicate compound and (F) at least one type of material selected from among (a) organic resin particle of average particle diameter not more than 40 μm, (b) inorganic glass particles of average particle diameter not more than 100 μm and (c) inorganic fibers of average length not more than 300 μm.
