A method of generating Nth order product predistortion coefficients for use by a linearizer in a non-linear communications system comprising receiving an input signal by a processor, applying, by the processor, a frequency domain-based adaptation algorithm by measuring Nth order products of an output signal of the system and iteratively adjusting a predistortion coefficient of a predistorter until the Nth order product is substantially equal to a predetermined minimum value.

A method of creating a pseudo hemispherical beam using a plurality of individual spot beams comprising receiving by a single router or packet processor, user data from a plurality of users, processing the user data by the single router or packet processor using a QoS logic such that a single output comprising a plurality of queues of data results, each queue of data comprising data designated for transmission only to one or more predetermined remote receivers, modulating the plurality of queues of data received using a multiple-carrier modulator such that a single output comprising a plurality of individual spot beams results, wherein each individual spot beam has a unique center frequency and carrier signal configuration, and transmitting the plurality of individual spot beams to a repeating relay configured to transmit each individual spot beam to the one or more predetermined remote receivers.

A method of accelerated carrier signal acquisition for a digital communication receiver, the method comprising receiving a carrier signal by a receiver comprising a carrier recovery loop (CRL), setting the CRL to an open loop setting using a processor. setting a numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) within the CRL at a center frequency of the NCO, determining, by the processor, one or more initial parameters of the CRL, calculating an estimate and polarity for a sign frequency detection frequency using a sign frequency detector while simultaneously estimating a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) frequency by running an FFT using the processor, comparing polarities of the estimates of the sign frequency detection frequency and FFT frequency and determining a frequency offset using the processor, and adjusting one or more parameters of the CRL based on the frequency offset using the processor.

A redundancy system for co-channel telecommunications comprising a first modem comprising a premapped symbol interface (PMSI) ROM configured to produce a constellation point number (CPN) value for each transmitted symbol using FEC codewords and a modulation format, an encoder to produce three CPN value signals, and a first symbol clock to generate a timing signal for the data signal. The system further comprises a second modem comprising a PMSI ROM decoder to decode the CPN values from the received CPN value signals, an interface bus to transmit the three CPN value signals of the encoder and the timing signal from the first online modem to the second offline modem, and a redundancy switch to switch the input channel of data to a FEC encoder of the second modem and the output channel of received codewords to a FEC decoder of the first modem in response to a redundancy switching signal.
